KTRK to produce evening newscast for KIAH

Press release: https://www.nexstar.tv/kiah-tv-houston-cw39-nightly-newscast-launch-nexstar-2020/

I suspect KHOU will eventually expand their news via KTBU as well, though the current uncertain future of TEGNA might delay that.

Also wouldn't surprise me to see KUBE get in the news game via an outside producer.

Heard that the Allen Parkway studio replacement got delayed with the Gannett acquisition. Don't think that Gannett/Tegna was going to relocate the station during the 2010's, evidenced by the premier of the Tegna 1.0 news set as a test for the Top-10 tier that was destroyed during Harvey. I bet the planning for the 5-10 year project was about to start around the time Harvey hit and the catastrophic flooding sped up the relocation process.

I was surprised that Nexstar chose ABC 13 for their content partner. I thought they already have a working relationship with Channel 2? They deployed KXAN reporters to relieve overworked KPRC field reporters during Harvey and covered the Leap Day water main break for Austin viewers on their webcast.
