KTSA adds Boortz to weeknights

I just noticed this week that KTSA has scaled back Clark Howard to 1 hour, from 9-10 on weeknights and inserted Neal Boortz from 7-9.

Maybe listeners are tuning out syndicated fare?

I don't understand your point. They switched out two hours of syndicated fare with syndicated fare. Boortz, some might say, fits in with what you hear the rest of the day on KTSA. He also has a more successful track record. I'm betting there'll be one more syndicated show on KTSA before the end of the year.

A running theme to my posts is that I express disappointment whenever a local station replaces local talk with syndicated fare. The fact that some syndicated fare underperformed and got replaced is an opportunity to needle the programmer who made that call in the first place. What I probably should have said is that I hope the replacement syndicated fare (Boortz) is also doomed to failure and that the pendulum swings back the other way.

Care to share your prediction?

I've always like Boortz...he does what a good host should...makes radio entertaining.
