KTSA Afternoons

If America's Anchorman can read lives spots...why can't a local news anchor? ???

Now there is a Kevin Wall doing the afternoons on KTSA. Is Jeff K really gone for good now, or will he return like a freeloading relative? This guy Wall, who kept spelling out his name every 5 minutes, shouts like a car salesman on those cheesey weekend car lot ads. He also sounded like he either had way too much coffee or medication. I like the way he cut off a caller who was complaining about the show's topic, which was the same one since last week, VP wannabe's pregnant daughter. The caller asked why Wall's show couldn't be different and discuss something original or more pertinent to our community, instead of rehashing a rehashed topic, which seemed to offend the temp host. He fired back with the lame excuse of discussing what everyone else is discussing. Sounds like another loser. Wonder how long this guy will last? One good thing for him is that when he is sent packing, he can always make those cheesey weekend car ads.

Jeff is definitely going to be gone. He says he's been filling in via ISDN from the RGV until a permanent replacement is hired.
Weird situation but he is definitely out.

The new 1250 The Zone website was discussed yesterday on the Chris Dual show.
He said this website is just a temporary makeshift website and the new site for
The Zone will be unveiled in the future. It was originally planned to be up and running
on April 1, 2008. Now, Chris said it may be up and running in 2012! It's NOW football
season so you would expect it to be up and running by now.

He said the new site will be an exceptional website. So, it should be worth the wait.

The streaming audio on this site is excellent and the best I've heard from a news-talk and or sports station:

Under the "bio" section, it lists the afternoon show hosts... but it dosn't list the thompson brothers. Could it be a sign that KTSA will move them to pm drive?

It really makes zero sense. back when the thomp. bros. were on 'oai and duel was on ktsa... duel beat them. so, why would they move them to ktsa and keep duel on the zone?

what a complete cluster-fudge. meanwhile, their ratings continue to plummet.

My complaint about JK was that he sounded small-market. At least this Wall guy sounds big-market. He also sounds a lot like Joe Pags, minus the NY accent. The callers today really seemed to respond to him. Is he really the permanent solution?

Jeanne Jakle's column today mentions that JK was disappointed at being given the heave ho after Friday's show without being given the chance to say goodbye. Since she doesn't mention Wall by name at all, I'd say that means he's just keeping the chair warm until the permanent solution is found.

On a related note, I really dislike KTSA's new identity tagline... "When you demand to know San Antonio, trust KTSA." Ugh. :p
