KTSM VHF 9 TO UHF 16

There's a lot of that going around. Maybe an all-UHF DTV service isn't a bad idea. It would certainly simplify antenna installation for consumers.

Now that we have the perspective afforded by being a month out from the DTV transition, in your opinion, does the Dallas/Ft. Worth market ``need fixing'' ? As you know, we've got three Vs (8, 9 and 11), all at reasonably good heights from a near-common location and unlike Roanoke/Lynchburg, terrain here is mostly flat. Might D/FW be one of those few markets that will never make it to your ``VHF Nightmares'' page over at rabbitears.info?

I realize you're out of this region but you seem to have a good handle on how things are shaking out nationwide.

Dallas is already on the VHF Nightmares page via KTVT showing up on 21-2.

I'm not sure what's going to happen really. I've seen some stations that I thought would be jumping up and down fixing things that have done nothing, and some I thought would stubbornly hold out that filed for channel changes. I expect WFAA to stick it out for sure, but KFWD and KTVT are questionable. I'm surprised KTVT hasn't done something yet, as CBS is usually very good about their technical operation, though maybe they're going to keep 21-2 up for the long-term and just let 11 stay where it is.

Ideally, I would like as many stations to move to UHF as possible. Watch for this to happen if Mobile DTV takes off.

Update on KTVT/KTXA: KTVT and KTXA want to return to the pre-transition situation where both were on UHF under STA. Fun stuff here. They are preparing a petition to return KTVT to 19, and will relocate KTXA to a yet-to-be-determined UHF channel.
