KTSR 92.1 DeQuincy/Lake Charles is now Classic Rock

my question is why everyone formats as classic rock (outside of nola/br) yet in Mississippi, both stations are mostly modern rock outlets? their fans can't handle real new music? just observation .. as figured easier for tsr to compete closer to say big dog imo

All of this is a scheme by Townsquare Media to cut Rock 101 (KKGB)'s ratings.

They are proper game changers, should be interesting.

On a side note,

Cumulus got smart and put country on 97.9, a sister station to KYKZ 96. Still, KJMH 107 Jamz is still Townsquare's cashcow. Seems like Cumulus was getting jealous that KJMH and KNGT were beginning to cut down KYKZ 96. Nash Icon on 97.9 is to reach De Ridder and cut down KNGT's large signal.

KYKZ is, after all, Lake Charles' most successful station for over 35 years.

I wonder if Cumulus will bring about an Urban Contemporary/Hip Hop station in retaliation, to cut down KJMH and KZWA from receiving so many ratings. Tending to the black crowd.

KBIU seems like it has been in a slump since being downgraded in 2005. KBIU is already Hot 103.3, but they don't play as much Hip Hop or R&B as KJMH and KZWA. KBIU seems like it's going down to the grave.

Look at these latest ratings for Lake Charles:

KBIU is doing worse or almost the same as AM station KAOK. It is the worst FM station in the market for the past 5 books. A little pathetic.

You are neglecting to note that over 40% of the listening in the Lake Charles MSA is to out-of-market stations, mostly ones from Beaumont and Lafayette. For example, Kiss from Beaumont ranks 7th or 8th on average in Lake Charles, and is responsible for apparent the poor performance the format in Lake Charles.

Well that is still pitiful for KBIU that a Beaumont station like KKMY rakes in the ratings, despite a smaller frequency. It only proves my point that Cumulus carelessly destroyed that station. (KBIU) Now Townsquare Media has the Lake Charles market under their control and KYKZ 96 is Cumulus' only saving grace in Lake Charles.

When you look at the ratings, Townsquare Media is completely dominating the LC market. It's a good thing KYKZ still has it's popularity, otherwise Cumulus is lagging way behind. But Dale Mann worked at KYKZ 96 and now he is working at KNGT ever since they switched to Country in 2002. Townsquare cannot buy another station in LC, as they have six stations. But Cumulus can. If KZWA ever decides to sell their station, Cumulus could easily pick them up as their number 6.

I think there has been a concerted plan to take down KYKZ 96 that Townsquare Media is doing, and it seems they are doing a good job of this.
