KTTN (Trenton) owner suffers stroke

KTTN in Trenton today posted on Facebook that longtime owner John Anthony had a stroke March 3, and is recovering at a Kansas City hospital. Anthony was frequently on the air, particularly for newscasts. He’s expected to recover.

Some of the post follows. KTTN (AM and FM) also owns station KGOZ. All three are programmed separately.

Listeners of KTTN/KGOZ Radio may have noticed the absence of John Anthony from the airwaves in recent days. During the late evening hours of March 3, John suffered a stroke. Emergency medical assistance was immediately requested, and he was transported by Grundy County Ambulance to Wright Memorial Hospital. He was later transferred to St. Luke’s Neuroscience Institute in Kansas City, where he underwent a successful procedure that stabilized his condition.

Following the procedure, John remained in intensive care for several days while medical professionals closely monitored his recovery. He has since been released from intensive care and is now undergoing rehabilitative therapy. His medical team expects him to make a full recovery.

John has always maintained a hands-on approach to management at KTTN/KGOZ. While he continues his rehabilitation, the staff will make temporary adjustments to ensure smooth operations. News items will be handled by Jennifer Thies and Dave Counsell, while sales inquiries should be directed to Betty Schultz. Despite these temporary changes, KTTN/KGOZ remains committed to providing its audience with accurate news, timely information, and quality programming.
