KTU KEEPS CLIMBING

The current rhythmic and dance sound is giving the station the best numbers in years. They were the # 2 station for July and more importantly # 1 between males 25-54.

For what 'KTU is, they've always done good especially with the female audience. This time around, a new factor has made 'KTU take notice....92.3 NOW.

With 92.3 Now leading the way in adds with current dance/rhythmic and seeing their own cume rise up as of late because of it, 'KTU had to take notice on that and to a smaller extent, Z-100. It's going to get very interesting now being that you have dance/rhythmic music on different stations aimed at two different but similar audiences (based on the age demos). I'm not expecting either station to lean more onto current dance because they certainly aren't going to "spite" the demos they are strong at. But as this dance friendly "battle" wages, I just see it as a matter of time before a station similar to Pulse 87 gets in there.

I'm not saying tomorrow or next year, but soon enough. So as long as the dance product continues to get strong and as long as the mainstream material remains strong, the core dance brand gets it. In that sense, I'm glad to hear Medina's "Addiction" on 92.3 Now (heard it coming back from the DJ Expo/Promo Only Summer Sessions).
