KTU Questions

Does KTU have any weekend dance shows at all like mixes and stuff? How long has KTU been a rhythmic AC? Is this the longest running so far? I'm confused by the wiki article.

Since we are on topic of KTU questions, I want to add.

According to radio-locator.com, WKTU's format is listed under "Urban Contemporary." Whatever happened to it's "Dance" format as they had listed for years, and since the majority of the mainstream even thinks KTU is dance?

KTU has always sold itself as a Rhythmic AC in their sales information even when they were all dance. Urban Contemporary is something that they have never been but maybe the site had a typo or clicked the wrong box.

'KTU has been a Rhythmic A/C station since September 2006. I don't know if it is THE longest but they have been doing this for quite a while now. There are weekend dance shows that fit into their brand of format and DToTheJ did give the 'KTU link for those :)

The station is far from rhythmic ac anymore, Have you checked their last songs played? they barley play any classic music, its mostly all current music

maybe they may go towards a Rhythmic Dance leaning CHR like former RhythmicAC KMVQ in san francisco.

That trend started happening about 8 months ago or so where the format was tweaked more current. However the selection of dance music on there is still on the "safe" and targeted mainly to that W 25-54, which is FINE being that is what 'KTU is, but they don't go on the "edgier" side to dance such as Pulse 87 did and what Party FM does now. So in that sense they still have a "Rhythmic A/C" tag though, yes, they have leaned it more current based as opposed to the 232,231,226th run of Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive"
