KTU's Wikipedia

That sounds like Tony... he always compares everything to Party 105, even though their ratings are worse than KTU's. Most of the old stuff is dead on, but it's a pretty biased listing of the current state of KTU.

With Whoopi, Cubby, Goumba and Hollywood all coming (or returning) to the Beat, I'd say the opposite and say no format change. Local music will be played by the stations that carry Wake Up With Whoopi... so I don't see how that show will affect programming, not to mention, why would Clear Channel switch to an Adult Hot AC when Lite is a not so light AC? I forsee them staying the course and playing the mix of new and old that continues to give them the numbers in the right demos to make money!

Diehards of every genre of music always complain that stations don't play the right music or why so many recurrents & golds... this isn't exclusive to dance or KTU. I do however believe that KTU has to play the mix of old and new to keep the ratings, just because the musical taste of the general mainstream public is not currently thinking new dance and like it or not... stations need the non diehards to survive!

Tony do you actually listen to Party 105? I literally live 15 miles from the tower and get static!! The station is stale imaging in weak and the mixshows are totally lacking. The majority of specialty shows you hear on Party are paid for by the Dj's etc. so you are not getting top notch shows. I think there playlist is fine they do choose good dance music but they have a lot of work to do in order to get any ratings. I love the idea of the station and it's nice having a dance orientated station on Long Island. I think the PD does a good job with what he has to work with. I also think that if instead of taking non veteran dj's and having them pay for airtime for mixshows if they actually went out and got some experienced guys the station would blossom and become better.

Actually Mike, from where I live in The Bronx...16 stories up, clear shot of Long Island, I take about 5 antennas, attach one on top of the other and pull in Party 105. There are times that it is more static than music but when the tropos are in full effect, I can pull Party stronger than K-104 in Poughkeepsie (which is a very powerful signal).

Yes, Andre does do a good job with the music. Yet for a station with a small signal, you're not going to get big names/experienced on-air personalities. When Party had a staff of jocks before the FM Channelcast, they were probably out of college landing their first gigs in radio. A couple of them did grow (Vic Latino....the BEST example) but I would think this time around, they'll just put in the music, have Andre's pre-recorded voicetrack of a song and then Andre is on air (along with the paid mix-show DJ's). Though, heck, I'd do a show just for the experience!

With what I have been going through lately....that radio bug is really biting hard!

Tony at least you have a real love for dance music I wish you the best!! I think you misunderstood me though the DJ's pay for there mixshows they don't get paid ;D... So you are a DJ?

I'll say the same thing I did when David Lee Roth began his morning show....

Give it time.

It's still the beginning. The kinks of the show still have to be worked out. But if those kinks don't clear up...then you could say goodbye. Exactly what happened to David Lee Roth.
