KTVK 3/KPHO 5

Just out of curiosity, Does KTVK and KPHO still simulcast each other? Is there a newscast where they compete against each other instead of simulcast each other?

They've since dropped that. Now all simulcasts go by *Arizona's Family News*. First adopted at Noon, its now expanded to mornings (using KTVK's *Good Morning Arizona*) and evenings. Starting Monday, KTVK will simulcast the 6:30 news with KPHO and that will go under that branding as well. Plus, according to schedules, they're rebranding the 8, 9, and 10 p.m. news on KTVK all as *Arizona's Family News*.

They do put a 3 or 5 logo on the screen depending on the station. But otherwise yes, same exact Arizona's Family News branding and newscast. And might I add the newscasts definitely "feel" like what 3 has historically done (despite 3 being acquired by Meredith/5). Hard to describe. Watching clips of Catherine Anaya and the late great Kent Dana on pre-merger CBS5 reminded me of what a quality news product 5 used to put on the air IMHO.

Mainly because KTVK is the stronger station out of the two, any day, and better brand recognition too when it has long used *3TV* and long used *Arizona's Family* as its slogan, now used for its newscasts. Its clearly the route where this duopoly was heading and it was adopting KTVK's style.
 
Wondering if they are going to replace Javier Soto in the weekday 4:30 - 6:00AM anchor? Gina Maravilla has been doing it, and traffic, since Javi left. Make Gina the anchor and hire a new traffic person? Several years ago, Gina was the CBS5 AM anchor with Mike Chamberlain so she has experience and is very good.
