KTVK Problems Saturday Morning?

I normally watch Good Morning Arizona every Saturday morning and have not had a problem.....until today. Tuning in about 7AM I had trouble getting my HDTV to lock and after it finally did the video pixelated almost constantly and the audio dropped out frequently. Same with 3.2.

Checking my signal quality showed a high of 53 but frequently it fell into the 40's.

Checking the rest of the full-power stations showed no issues, only channel 3.

Anyone else have this problem or know why?

I had no problems between 11 AM and 1 PM. I only clicked thru ch 3, staying just long enough to see what was on, but never noticed anything out of the ordinary when I did.

Since I normally have no problems with channel 3 I thought maybe they were having technical problems. Whatever it was affected both the .1 and .2 channels. Perhaps it got fixed by 11AM.

Re: KTVK Problems Saturday Morning? - UPDDATE

After the second weekend of poor signals on KTVK (both 3.1 & 3.2) I landed on the resolution. First some background:

I have an HDTV in the kitchen connected to a set of rabbit ears through coax in an adjoining room. This arrangement has worked flawlessly for the past six months. Suddenly two weeks ago my normal Saturday AM reception of channel 3 went into the crapper and I couldn't figure out why.

It is important to note here that on the kitchen side of the antenna wall there is a shelf. Normally nothing sits on that shelf but wifey decided to place a cooler right next to the wall in direct line-of-sight between rabbit ears and S. Mountain antenna farm.

The cooler is a normal polystyrene-type plastic cooler. No metal anywhere and fairly thin to boot. I gave it no consideration regarding the signal loss......until, by chance, I moved it and immediately noticed a 20-point improvement in my signal (as measured by that signal thingy on my HDTV). Viola! Back to watchable picture!!!

What is amazing here is that the rabbit ears are already behind one exterior wall (which has foil insulation inside) AND my neighbor's entire house and still pulls in an almost full signal - until the cooler is placed on the shelf.

Yet another significant "advantage" of the digital scheme, I'm sure.

I'm betting you would have had a significant ghost if you'd been watching an analog channel 24 transmitting from the same site.

I've lived in this same house for the past 22 years and had the same set-up with my analog TV. Only difference now is the digital set and signal.
