KTVK Ripping off KSAZ (IMHO)

So I want to just first share this is my personal opinion on this issue. My schedule does not allow me to watch the morning shows this Fall but when I have a day off I am able to watch the shows. I caught part of GMAZ this morning and was surprised to see KTVK had a segment with Kaley O'Kelly showing off a home from a Phoenix Home and Garden type of magazine. Not sure if this is a regular segment or a ripoff of Diane Ryan's Cool House segment, featured every Monday morning on Channel 10. I also noticed on weekends Brittney is doing a report of local restaurants, this also seems like a rip off of Taste of the Town by Andrea Robinson. One final example this morning Yetta was at a coffee house for Phoenix Coffee Week. I could have sworn Kristen Anderson was at the same coffee shop last week. They both had them pour the milk/cream into the coffee and draw out designs. I really miss Yetta on FOX 10, she seemed to have a greater role as entertainment reporter, just don't see her as much on KTVK but I am not watching the full 5 1/2 hours of the show so I could be completely wrong. I am not sure if new management, news director, individual in charge of content has decided to steal these ideas or is just lazy and decides to do what KSAZ is doing for segments a few days later. Just an utter shame IMHO. I guess imitation is the highest form of flattery.

Charlie.

Maybe I would watch Ch. 10's morning show but I feel the same way about Rick D'Amico as others on this board do about Tara Hitchcock on KTVK.
IMHO, D'Amico comes off as a huge whiner and that he is the most important person on the set.

As far as 3 ripping off 10; there have been expensive homes, restaurants, coffee shops, arts & crafts hobby shop segments for years all over the TV dial. There is only so much "news" to fill such a long TV show. After that, they do local interest filler segments. ;)

I am a regular viewer of the 10 morning show and don't understand your "whiner" comment about Rick D. He is usually being sarcastic or implying humor in his "whining" and a lot of the time his "whining" is used to give his younger co-host an entry point into the conversation. He loves picking on Andrea and uses their age differences to make points and tease her about "old time" radio.

I have really enjoyed their hosting these last several years I've been able to watch. It reminds me a lot of Regis and Kelly.

You mean the old man ogling the beautiful young woman??? ;)

I've tried and tried to watch the Fox 10 Morning Show -- it's just doesn't work for me personally.

Back to the original topic, I do seem to remember 12 News Weekend Today (when Caribe did live field reports on weekend mornings) and GMAZ weekend being at the same events at the same time. Given that we have so many hours of morning "news", there are bound to be overlaps. However, I don't condone blatant copying.

That's what happens when stations act upon press releases rather than finding original content. A PR agent sends out a release to all media. Whoever bites on it gets the same story. Not copying, just fishing out of the same pond.
