KTVK using "Inside Edition" pieces as hard news?

I normally don't tune in to the 9pm news on either Channels 3 or 10. However, I checked out 3's 9pm broadcast tonight. After a local piece about the upcoming "deep freeze" in Metro Phoenix, they went to a piece taken from syndicated tabloid magazine "Inside Edition" on a snow plow hitting a car in New York City.

I know that 3 is known for taking stories from "Inside Edition" (or "Entertainment Tonight") and injecting them as hard news stories in the past, but thought that era was gone. I guess I was wrong.

If 3 didn't pull these types of shenanigans, I would be watching more often, especially over their 9pm competition. I guess I'll continue to wait and watch either 5 or 15 at 10pm.

If it's the one about a front loader hitting a van repeatedly, then 5 had the same story.

Eric, I thought the same thing when 5 had it near the top of their newscast at 10pm. Weird, right? I would have thought the ski lift thing in Maine was more pressing than this...but that came afterwards, at least on KPHO.
