KTVT HD news makes overnight debut

I was up late last night and flipping around the dial when I caught the last 5 minutes of a live news broadcast by KTVT in HD. It was about 1am.
I think it was a dry run of their HD news stuff before the big debut on Monday at 4pm. Channel 5 did the same thing a few weeks ago from what I've read.

Channel 11 seems to have gotten it right. The new set looks nice and compliments high definition very well. Channel 5's set is just a big blue background that does nothing.
 
Note that sister KTXA will also go hi-def Monday for its 7-9PM newscast.
 
I'm certain that is coming... it's usually the next step in the ratings, but hey, there is always KXAS ;D
 
It was on the air at 4pm today. Channel 21 is HD tonight too. It all looks pretty good. Nice set, field video is even shot in 16:9, even if it's not HD. Weather graphics aren't HD, but that's about the only downside.

I'd say channel 11 came close to channel 8 in the execution of HD. Channel 5 is a joke.
 
But then again, KXAS always has CW has stiff 21st century competition ;D
