KTWL 105.3 flips to country

After being off the air for a few days, KTWL 105.3, formerly Bob FM, is now Texas Mix 105.3, a country format. Their station ID is KTWL Hempstead/Tomball/Magnolia. Note the omission of The Woodlands.

The Woodlands? what were they smoking/drinking to think they could cover The Woodlands?

Surprised Bob lasted as long as it did. It has been a basket case most of its existence.

At least a Country format is more in line with the demographics of KTWL's signal coverage, such as it is.

This station would probably work best as one of the EMF satellite-fed religious formats, but I understand there is a gentlemen's agreement not to enter the market against KSBJ.

About time. "Serving the Woodlands" was a joke; that's barely in the distant coverage area. But Hempstead/Tomball/Magnolia isn't much better. I can't figure why it's licensed to Hempstead. The only city it really covers with a local signal is Navasota.

This should of been posted over at the Texas board, I don't see this station even coming close to Houston except for a skip maybe.

The Woodlands... Houston...

oh wait. I don't see it coming into The Woodlands much either. ;D

wait a minute!! I am on the east side of Conroe going to porter tx, I hear something. No it's KORG 105.3 in Cleveland tx. on 105.3 playing southern gospel music.
Opps!!

It'll take more than a format change to help KTWL. Look who owns it and who's managing it. Like father, like son.

Funny, because they mention "Lonestar" on some of their liners. If you remember, KULF 107.3 recently flipped from "Lonestar" Texas Country to All christmas, and Lonestar was managed by Roy Henderson up to about 2 months ago. I wonder if Roy decided to pick it back up after Brazos Communications decided to drop it?

It sounds completely identical to the old Lonestar 107.3. The recent Lonestar was a bit different, but it no longer exists.
