KTWV/L.A. CONTINUES IT'S ASCENT...WHY WOULDN'T IT WORK IN THE BAY??

KTWV jumps from 3.3 to 3.8....Cume jumps from 1,808,400 to 2,022,800!

Hybrid Smooth/AC is working....Is there any denying it?

Makes all the sense in the world too....A/C does well in most markets, so play choice AC cuts and choice Smooth cuts & blend them seamlessly.....A hipper, more interesting sound!

Exactly what Kaye is doing, exactly what KYOT/Phoenix is doing!

Think we'll see many markets that pre-maturely dropped Smooth Jazz, pick this Hybrid format up (New York, Chicago, San Fran, etc)

Yawner KOIT just cruises along unchallenged...As does KBAY (though KBAY sounds better then KOIT) in the South Bay!

KKSF was in a similar postion to KTWV, before they axed it (declining numbers, but still substantial, sell-able).

What is up with the Bay Area radio?

How can the suits not see this??

What about 25-54?

DE-

Do you have info on the 25-54 numbers?

I don't have access to LA Arbitron, but was told KTWV has moved up 4 to 5 25-54 rank positions, which would make it about 15th instead of the smooth jazz 20th level.

Considering that this was a format adjustment rather than a total flip, this move could be considered an excellent start for what is generally a slow to move format and demographic.

I am tired of these posts, classic hits and smooth AC is never gonna work in San Francisco, get over it

sfradio-

You're tired of these posts? Maybe you should start your own Radio forum, so you don't have to be bogged down by these cumbersome posts! You must have a radio crystal ball that no one else has? Good for you!

106_KIFR-

Maybe you should audition for next season's Last Comic Standing?....Hilarious!

KTWV wouldn't work in the Bay because we can't hear it up here. They are in the L.A. market! ::)

LOL! ;D But either way a format like KTWV wouldn't work in former smooth jazz towns. Just look at WSJT/Tampa!

Actually a Soft AC/Smooth Jazz Hybrid format is being tried in the Bay Area (Kind Of...)You can find it at 98.1 HD-2 and KKSF.com, It would be interesting to see it move to an analog channel but I don't think CC or CBS has anything their interested in flipping.
