KTXN Victoria Sold

According to FCC filings, KTXN-FM Victoria, TX has been sold to "Gap". Harry Lieberman is a Signatory on the transfer IIRC.

Price $1,150,000.

Whatever it ends up being, I'll bet it pales to Steve Coffman's best days.

And the world goes on...

Mhh, I was hoping for them to eventually come back, but no more hope there. I wonder what GAP will do with all those stations. I hear Victoria is dead, advertising wise. If it's so hard to get by, I wonder how they are doing with their stations.

My Mistake on the buyer. Lieberman is the name of the lawyer. That's what I get for reading too fast.

Gap Owns KIXS, KLUB, KQVT

Maybe they'll turn it to Hiphop heard bunch of people were not happy with the flip of KBAR. But KBAR does sound good now.

That was my thought. Hip-hop is the only mainstream format not covered in Victoria. I seriously doubt they would revive the "Texas mix" format.....furthermore, they wouldnt have a clue of how to execute it properly.

I'm confused. I thought this station was silent. And I heard it was silent for a number of reasons. Couldn't make payroll, lack of advertising and dwindling audience. I remember the station starting strong but it tanked long before Steve passed.

They are still Silent, just were talking about what format they may or could be.

I always question peoples motives when their FIRST EVER post on radio-info is a dig or slam at someone..........

No underlying motive. I just know some commission checks never quite made it to some sales reps down there. Facts are facts. I did uncover that Victoria Radio Works are being quietly brokered right now. Not a bad cluster except for the AMs.

I wonder what will become of 98.7..... we will find out in 30 days or so.

Hip Hop is doubtful, Texas Mix is not profitable. Tejano would be a good move but a hard sell. Good national business tho.

GAP has Country, Classic Rock, and a Hot AC / AAA station.

Whatever it is, it will be milktoast and profitable.

Then again what do i know....

They may have been late once or twice, but they ALWAYS got paid.

Hey Russell, long time no see! Yes, it will be interesting to see what they do with it. Is there enough market share in Victoria for 2 active rock stations? Or maybe they'll go classic country........

Hey RadGirl... that though had crossed my mind. It is really not a matter of room. is there room... sure. with an unrated market there is always room. You are not looking for ratings, just for how many sales you can close... which that group is very good at.

Classic Country... who knows.

Here's another thought. Maybe a Jack or Bob format.......

KQVT pretty well much sounds like BobFM here in Austin, as far as Tejano, KNTE and K290BC if that one is still on the air pretty well much covers the Tejano format. I think hiphop or Hurban may be a good bet.

Actually, KHMC covers Tejano. KNTE is Regional Mexican and the translator is a religious station. But I do agree, Victoria may be better off with a Hip-Hop station. A Jack or Bob may be better since they don't require on-air staff (less people to hire)

Interesting at what their web site says at their old web site link:

That does not sound like a wise move from an ad sales POV. 2 oldies station in a market the size of Victoria...dumb, dumb, dumb.....
