KTYS not flipping

thought I'd throw in my 2 cents....

so what if KTYS doesn't flip?? what if it just stays this way?
will we be able to go on as an industry?

I can't recall the last time so much was made over a possible format change on such a low rated station. who cares?

Well, some may have not have thought much of WVNJ's format change, but not long afterward, Z100 owned NYC!

(A flip could render KTYS a better-rated station.)

But a lengthy flip tease could render KTYS to the garbage dump.

Or just frustrate radio geeks.*

*geeks is not meant to be a negative term. I consider myself one!

Then you're not a regular reader of this site!

Format changes, regardless of where, make these boards go 'round! I'm sure much of the Dallas/Ft. Worth metro doesn't care. They can't easily hear the station anyway, and most of the people who can apparently aren't listening either.

The only average people who care are the few who listen to the Twister, who will likely walk away disappointed and the few who know about the change and want something not presently offered, most of whom will also likely walk away disappointed as it won't be what they want. However, we're not average people. We're radio people!

If you were a seller, you would be aware that while Twister might have averaged a mid to low 1.0 over the last couple books as it relates to the whole metro, they did very well in the counties they served. I remember seeing some impressive numbers...and this is the problem for ANY format, you serve an area that is mostly rural, and the signal while good to the north and west, cant make a difference to make real money or metro impact. They will realize that if they put the resourses they will eventually spend on making what they have better, they would be better off.

Wrong. I read this site pretty much everyday. There are many discussions over stations changing formats. I just can't recall when there's been this much talk about a low-rated rim-shot station.

It just seems to me that it's too much talk and not enough real information.

Tested,

You and I are on the same line of thinking. I'm a format change freak, and I delight in hearing about stations changing formats. However, I don't ever remember a format change anywhere being hyped sooooo much. Then again, I don't live in Texas, and I'm only 22-years-old! But, look, Tom Taylor's been beating this drum since early May. If you go back and read the TRI (Taylor on Radio-info) columns from about the middle of May, you'll see what I mean. He keeps giving these dates for when KTYS will flip formats, and he's been wrong every time. I wish he'd knock it off! Plus, well, I don't want to sound mean or rude here, but this board's had tons of on-going speculation about this flip, but nothing's happened, and noone knows what they're flipping to. This has been the most talked about, and hyped format change that hasn't happened yet that I've ever read about.

That's why I am no longer going to pay atention to anymore talk about KTYS unless a flip happens. So, if the posters on this board could help me out here, I'd appreciate it. When KTYS actually does flip, I'd appreciate it very much if someone would let me know by either sending me a private message, or by sending me an email with the details. Until then, I will discard anything about KTYS on radio-info as just hype. Thank you.
