KUBA SOLD

in the Trades this Morning ???

And in a deal not yet filed with the FCC, NEVADA COUNTY BROADCASTERS is selling Classic Hits KUBA-A-K238AV/YUBA CITY, CA to RESULTS RADIO LLC for an undisclosed price, according to the MARYSVILLE APPEAL-DEMOCRAT.

there selling there translator ?????????? or both ???

I first heard it on KNCO-AM, then later saw it in The Union Newspaper. Their statement said it's to better concentrate on KNCO (AM and FM). My best guess is it's all about money.

KNCO-AM does a good job on local news (except the 49 fire, the subject of a great thread 1 year ago).

Star 94 could be about 1000% better (KNCO-FM, 94.1 and 105.7). They have an O.K. morning show, then switch to satellite the rest of the day. With live local talent all day, and great promotions, it could be a real winner for Western Nevada County.

Don't they own KAHI-950 also? Are they planning on selling this station?

I'm pretty sure KAHI has different ownership. The receission hit KAHI pretty hard. Last I heard, they have very limited staff.

105.7 is a translator for 94.1. I'm sure they turned that on to reach areas of Nevada County they couldn't reach before, such as south county near LOP. KNCO-FM's 94.1 transmitter is on Banner Mountain, attached to a fire tower. Since the state trimmed the trees around the tower, the tower is visible from a distance.

Thanks DJ! You are right. According to the FCC, Immaculate Heart Radio owns KAHI-950. I don't know if they operate it too or if some other company has an LMA?

Does anyone else know of a station like KNCO (FM) that has its translator (105.7) on the same tower as its main transmitter (94.1)?

It is interesting that the FCC allows this situation. However, in the areas I drive, the translator coverage is vastly superior to the primary because the primary 94.1 MHz signal is clobbered by KPFA in Berkley.

So anyone thik that they'll use the money to buy KNCO an FM Translator?

KNCO-AM has good daytime coverage. They reduce power at night. When I work graveyard, I can barely pick up 830 east of Nevada City and south of Grass Valley. I noticed KNCO-AM is getting PPM ratings in Sacto (since this is the Sac board). ;D

Nevada County (west) is in the Sacramento market.
