KUBE

I realise that they are number one in seattle so they must know what they're doing, but they have to be the worst hip hop station ever. 8 out of the top 20 are recurrents and 3 or 4 more are getting ready to be recurrents. I live in columbus and i thought 107.5 was kind of a bad station for breaking new hip hop, but after looking at KUBE i realize how good i have it. "The Good Life" by Kanye West is practically in their top 5. Songs 10-20 are practically all recurrents. The other day they premiered "Return of the mack" by Mark morrison.

This cowboy smells Jammin 106.1 with the Morning Playhouse comin soon  Watch out KUBE and MOVin cause CBS, Marcus D, Preston and Lisa A could be makin changes ;)

Jammin 106.1 will NOT happen. at some point... the PPM is coming. Stations like KUBE which thrive on weighted ethnic diaries and enormous amounts of TSL will have problems. That is a fact, especially in a market like Seattle. Stations like Movin and KBKS are hanging on until then and the landscape of this market will change drastically. Very nice observation bwilliam about the number of currents KUBE is playing. But they draw ratings, thats the bottom line. Believe it or not, 92.5 is the BEST programmed Movin station in the country, they do something no other Movins do, and thats play a lot of currents and are extremely promotionally active. And also believe it or not, KBKS is one of the most musically balanced CHR's in the country. I know all you old dudes listen to these three stations on a regular basis, but none of the three are going anywhere. No reason for anyone to flip to Jammin and take on KUBE at their own game, does not make sense... especially with the PPM coming to town in the future. KBKS and Movin are constantly in the top 3 or 4 People 18-34 and the top 3 women 18-34. And both will see big increases when the PPM finally gets here (of course, if it keeps having downfalls like in Philly and Houston, that may be a while).

Ever thought that KUBE works well because its programmed for Seattle? Maybe its not supposed to make sense to you! lol

Seriously. It plays out perfectly. Its heritage. They play off of that by not being a bangning new hip hop station. Keep it fresh, but play the hits, play the golds and reap the rewards.

I worked for a Rhyhtmic (top 30 market) before, and if you looked at the playlist you would faint! 2-3 albums cuts. Top spin 48X a week. But, its top 5 12+, top 2 18-34. Why? Because it is programmed for its market.
