Job well done. i am glad to see that radio is not dead yet. I just wish I could get active rock at nights after the 9-5 work day IMHO. I would actually turn on my radio if I were to have edgy stuff like Korn, Mudvayne, Five Finger Death Punch, Drowning pool etc. I don;t see that happening ever tho. Back to My iphone 7,000 song playlist. Remember, I do not get WSOU or WCCC down in fairfield county Sad Kudos to FMS (fingers metal shop) being back on WBAB I love it!
I couldn't agree more! Although PLR still skews it's playlist way too old for my ears. Newer prime cuts from more new proven rock bands need to be in regular rotation, not just overnights. Nickelback doesn't count either! They are just a canadian pop-rock band that can't hold a candle to most bands,(garage, mainstream, or bar circuit)that have come and gone through the years. We definitely need an active rock station done properly somewhere on the regular dial, not just HD band that is not just a part-time show or college ran station. Some other bands I would add to your list would be Hellyeah, Sevendust, Pantera, COC, Default, Tool, Union Underground, Rob Zombie, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Deftones, Red Line Chemistry, Ministry, Fear Factory, Anthrax, Life Of Agony, Mastodon, Soil, Apocalyptica, Clutch, Coal Chamber, Nonpoint, Stabbing Westward, Taproot, Helmet and Thousand Foot Krutch just to name a few. If an active rock station could sound like XM 48 Squizz did before the Sirius merger killed that amazing station converting it to nothing more than a top 40 rock in Octane it would do very well in the ratings. But the imaging and playlist would need to be top tier and uncompromising in it's approach to be executed properly. Before any suits chime in and preach to me what has been stuffed in their earholes, you need to start respecting the rock fans right now, as well as all other genres of music. Most of us are extremely loyal and our masses at concert venues, buying merchandise and things like XM and ipods to get our needs served only proves the lack of service on the dial by the guys who "Think" they know us....B.S!! If you did I wouldn't be here telling you what we want, and I'm sorry but a stale overplayed predictable playlist chock full of bands and songs older than most of us is not always the right recipe in rock radio, or what everyone wants no matter what your figures or imagination may tell you. The numbers could be much better with some much needed tweaking. Look at the KUPD, WJJO, KXPZ, KHTQ's of the world. They get it, and the numbers they have prove it. Why can't you? Let me guess...it hurts to change, right? Well tough s#$t!! Stations closing down, or losing it in the ratings because of a PD playing it safe thinking everyone wants to hear what he likes hurts too!
