Kudos to Mr. Zach For...

Reporting that WALX has changed its COL to Orrville. The format is still a hybrid mix of Classics with Hot AC. Heard an announcer say Orrville along with Selma, in the station's ID, a few days ago.

For those wondering, WJAM is still broadcasting from Selma, with its famous Touch Urban Format and nighttime Gospel, with Dr. Feelgood,

WJUS AM is still working on their move to Selma and 94.3 FM is still relaying Moody Radio but will relay WJUS AM, once the move is completed and Rev. Glenn King is granted approval to do this by the FCC.

P.S. Meant to report this but glad that Mr. Zach has it on his awesome web site. Thanks for getting this info out. You did a great job, my friend.

Whatever happened to WJAM's move to Shorter, to cover the Montgomery area?

See, you go to praise me and I wind up finding an error in my data. I had the info for the CP and license for WJAM backwards. *lol*

Dunno what they're waiting on, but I can't help but wonder if the bad economy has put the brakes on the upgrade. I can't find any other station/problem that might be standing in their way. There's a 107.9 outside Atlanta, but they're not downgrading, they're upgrading! So I dunno what else could be holding them up. AFAIK the city of license change for WALX was the only holdup.

Despite that one mistake, I still love your web site. It's awesome and educational. Glad that you're still able to keep it going. If I see any other errors on it, I'll help you correct them.

It looks like Orrville is barely inside the required signal strength area for WALX and Valley Grande in well within that area. Maybe WALX is looking to improve Montgomery coverage down the road. Plus an application has been filed to move 97.7 WTID Thomasville into the Selma area with Orrville as city of license and a frequency change to 103.9fm to replace the move of WALX to Valley Grande so Orrville keeps a radio station.

I wonder if any of this WALX business is why WBFZ 105.3 has been ID'ing with Orrville as well.

WBFZ has been doing the Orrville thing for years now. Their tower and transmitter are located in Orrville. The studios are in Selma.

Hope this helps.

P.S. What will WTID cater to, if their permit to move is accepted? Just curious.

True. They're also licensed to Selma, yet their recorded IDs usually mention Orrville first, which is technically incorrect--unless they're generously helping WALX settle their licensing issues, which would be odd.

They're located just north of Selma, on Highway 22. The same road I travel on, when I go to Birmingham. It recently became a town of its own, a few years ago.
