I listened to WINS for an hour this morning and was surprised to not hear the snarky delivery that's become a hallmark of CBS News these days. Then about 40 minutes into the hour they played a liner with words to the effect of, "All The News Without the Bias." I hope this is a trend and I wonder if it was encouraged by WGN's new "unbiased" TV news venture.
Later in the hour, the anchor couldn't help herself as she giggled through a story about a guy who broke into a car dealership, stole a Land Rover and crashed it a block away - not very appealing to those of us who don't find the destruction of property funny. But WINS attempting to check bias at the door is definitely a step in the right direction. As Bernard Goldberg used to point out, bias can be delivered in very subtle ways.
