KUFW lost their tower site; they have been operating from a temporary site in Visalia starting
January 29. They have been using 2.0 kW ERP at 11.5 meters above ground level and 11.5
meters HAAT with a Bext TFC2K three bay half wave-spaced.
KUFW has just been approved for a better temporary site with improved coverage over Fresno.

A new, temporary site west of Selma was identified and whose STA was granted today
Chavez Radio Group (“Chavez”), licensee of KUFW(FM) Channel 292B1, Facility ID
No. 18860, Kingsburg, CA herein requests an Engineering STA for KUFW. It is in the
public interest that KUFW remain operational serving the California Central Valley.
This new STA improves both the population and area served and replaces the previous
Engineering STA with LMS file No. 0000265825.
Chavez was recently notified of the termination of their tower lease at the licensed site
and the tower is being dismantled. Efforts are underway to locate a new licensed site. A
minor modification application to relocate the KUFW licensed site will be filed as soon
as a viable site can be located.
Under the proposed improved STA, KUFW will operate with 4.8 kW ERP at 92 meters
above ground level and 94.27 meters HAAT with a Nicom BKG77 two bay 5/8 (0.625)
wave spaced circularly polarized directional antenna. The antenna will be mounted on an
existing guyed tower, 156.9 meters in overall height, located 26 km. south of Fresno, CA.
The tower is registered with Antenna Structure Registration (ASR) number 1015357.
The coordinates of the STA location are 36-33-11.4 N. Latitude and 119-45-13.0 West
Longitude (NAD 83). The ground level elevation at the site is 83.5 meters AMSL
