KUFX 98.5 K-FOX

Since KSJO 92.3 and KCNL 104.9 have been sold to Principle Broadcasting, what will happen to KUFX? Since this station is under Aloha Station Trust?

Clear Channel is maxed out on radio ownership. FM: KYLD 94.9, KISQ 98.1, KIOI 101.3, KKSF 103.7, and KMEL 106.1. AM: KNEW 910, KKGN, 960. Plus Clear Channel has a stake in Univision. (KDTV 14, KFSF 66, KSOL 98.9, KSQL 99.1, KBRG 100.3, KVVZ 100.7, KVVF 105.7).

BTW, Clear Channel owns KKSF 103.7 THE BAND (San Francisco's Classic Rock station).

Maybe K-FOX and The Band will combine and put Greg Kiln in The Band's morning drive slot, and when the time comes to sell K-FOX they can simply tell there listeners to tune into The Band. Or they could be like KFOG and do an SJ/SF simulcast. Personally I've always liked K-FOX better, but I live in the Northern East Bay where KRXQ dominates

Wouldn't it be woth it for Clear Channel to drop one of it's AM stations in favor of K-Fox?

Mike

The maximum FM count for a single market is 5... selling an AM would not help.

Clear Channel has no ownership of any part of UVN.

Yes, KUFX is the flagship station for the San Jose Sharks. It wouldn't make business sense to combine KUFX with KKSF as it would reduce the sale price of KUFX since the sale price is based on cash flow and the intellectual property, KFOX as well as the stick value of 98.5.

KRXQ is a much better station than KUFX. In fact, with the exception of the morning show, KUFX plays the same songs as KSEG-96.9.

Good observation! KUFX is consulted by Fred Jacobs the same consultant for The Eagle in Sacramento. They use the same playlist.
