Community Radio for Northern Colorado, KUNC's parent organization, has turned in the license for one of its translators after that translator was off the air for nearly a year and a half.
K267CM augmented KUNC's coverage in areas southeast of Steamboat; KUNC repeater KRNC continues in operation at 88.5 with a signal that misses some of those areas.
Most cancellation requests don't have an accompanying statement, but this one does. In that exhibit, CRNC explained that the state, owner of the K267CM site, had requested that the translator discontinue operation in December 2024. CRNC had not notified the FCC of that suspended operation. CRNC goes on to request cancellation of the license: "Because K267CM has remained silent for more than twelve consecutive months, the licensee understands that the station license has expired as a matter of law pursuant to Section 312(g) of the Communications Act."
Aside from KRNC, CRNC's other operation in Steamboat, K205FZ, isn't affected and continues to rebroadcast CRNC's KJAC, The Colorado Sound.
