KUOA 1290 flipped to Conservative Christan Talk

As of Sunday, KUOA has switched to a Conservative Christan Talk format with some host like DR. Laura, Hugh Hewitt ,a nd james Dobson to mention a few. The are also putiing a local slant on News and Sports. Hope it works for them. They still need imaging. Still nobody has the guts to do a classic Hit format or a JACK FM format in this market. A format like that would work instead of the cookie cutter music formats we have now. Everyone on playing the same songs over and over again. Of course that is what happens when consultants are involved.

KUOA have an FM translatorwhich is still used for sports. I know that Cumulus has stations that are not doing that great. Y94.9 is 1 of them. They are never going to beat Magic. i was jsut saying a format that has variety would work here.

Probably a good move. Doubt many people along the I-540 corridor listen to AM 1290 when it can be heard on 2 or 3 FM signals. Pretty much all of their listeners were in the Siloam Springs area, where conservative/Christian is big (due to influence of John Brown University).

Does anyone know what happened to The Hogs' translator at 97.9 that was located near Centerton? I'm kinda glad they no longer broadcast from there. That signal steped all over B-98 out of Fort Smith, even as far south as Fayetteville.

I am not sure if NWA can support 3 sports stations, but I hope The Hog sticks around. I think they have the best morning and evening drive shows for Razorback sports. Part of their problem is signal issues and tending market themselves more as 99.5 than 105.3. Yeah, 99.5 is the larger signal but they have a better signal for most of Springdale and Fayetteville at 105.3. Driving around west Fayetteville this weekend with a strong tropo coming in from Oklahoma, Big Country out of Tulsa was dominating over The Hog in my car radio.
