Kurt St Thomas to helm WFNX.com

WFNX was the DJ's. Without them you've got a jukebox, a Spotify playlist. The Phoenix likes to overestimate their importance, but it was people like Henry, Julie and (back in the day) Kurt who made the station what it was. WFNX could have severed ties from the newspaper and still retained its identity just fine.

Meh - the DJs themselves will tell you that it was all about the music. And someday, maybe even this month, there will be DJs.

Some employers prohibit installing apps like Spotify and Pandora on work computers, but do not prohibit streaming in browsers or Windows Media Player. So a stream that mimics a Spotify playlist can be a feature rather than a bug. As can having no DJs, at times.
 
The DJ's are coming - don't worry.

Kurt is already highly involved in the playlist - just one listen would tell you that. The cutting edge material being played on WFNX.com is pretty overwhelming right now.

Michael Marotta announced recently via Facebook his Boston Accents show will run DAILY at 5-6pm... that's one hour each day devoted to live, local music. As far as I know, RadioBDC doesn't have a local show yet. We'll see if they pick up their own local show after that. Should be interesting to see what both parties do once live DJ's appear on WFNX.com..

Much more interesting then what's happening on the blah FM radio dial!
 
They should have had this in place the minute the FM went away.

The longer they wait, the more people forget about FNX.com.

Former WFNX Production Director Mike Gioscia is aboard as APD of WFNX.com; Michael Marotta, the Music Editor of The Boston Phoenix joins the FNX team as Music Director and Sabrina Boyd, the former MD of Brown University's WBRU/Providence will serve as Asst. MD.

WFNX.com will "relaunch" on 10/31/12.
