kuselias / phillips fallout

i know it might be bad form to comment on sad personal situations but this one bleeds into the sports radio world and is worth discussing.

with steve phillips and eric kuselias "suspended" and other full time espn radio folks possibly soon finding some valuable "time-off", i wonder if this could be a good thing in the long run for a tired bloated espn radio.

espn radio needs a fresh voice. the iphone app is great but the content is weak. podcasts are often good - barry, ravitz, simmons. radio - not so much.

i hope they take this opportunity to bring some fresh voices into the lineup. i guess its a risk but maybe espn radio can use this as an important milestone to clean house and move towards a new direction.

probably not...but i'd like to hear rusillo, salk, kevin winters and other younger talent given a shot. they might already be tainted by the espn fraternity house atmosphere but how about giving it a chance...

p.s. if necessary, please read deadspin for background.

heard kuselias on mike and mike fill-in duty this morning. interesting....

too bad kuselias is such a chameleon radio-wise. what now you're a fantasy expert and not a nascar honk?

the whole espn thing (well, sports radio in general) nowadays is just kind of sad.

sorry about replying to my own posts...

have to hand to kuselias for hosting his own show this morning. mmmm. wow.

obviously, the past week was like the 500 lb. gorilla in the room but it made for slightly more compelling radio than the usual...a stupid tease for another espn employee (olney), followed by another greenberg style tease for another espn personality who will say nothing compelling...rinse/repeat.

(sorry to sound like mushnick).

the behind the scenes (legal?) reason for not discussing the past week is really really interesting.

He was hosting the Fanatasy Football Show on ESPN2 also, Stephina Bell was there too.

We don't act like that where I work ,we would be fired if we even thought about it.

I am getting tired on ESPN Radio's constant commercial breaks and teases.
