KUSS to get backup site

Is that something that is allowed by the FCC because it is a News/Talk station? I guess my question is... Why are they just now doing this, why didn't they have a backup site before?

As usual Big121 is talking out of his lower regions!! KGB-FM has had a backup site at KOGO for over 10 years!! KGB-FM and KIOZ share the combiner and antenna with KLNV.

They had to build that site so that they could move KGB-FM there during the installation of the combiner and antenna at 52nd street for KHTS-FM to move there. KGB-FM would have been off the air other wise

Any station may apply for a backup site if their petition shows a "need' . See FCC 'CFR 73.759'. KIOZ's backup is located on Soledad, not Emerald Hills. KNLV uses an older series ERI 2 bay located on a short tower next to the transmitter building.
600KOGO , please provide us with your documentation source for KGB's Aux site. Suggestion: move your auditory canal further away from my lower regions....

Big 121 KIOZ's aux IS at Emerald hills it uses an FM10G Harris transmitter. Unlike you I have been to Emerald Hills, and know beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are there both KGB-FM and KIOZ. And I have seen physically the Aux licenses. I dont know where you get your facts from, but you can see both transmitters on www.fybush.com and look at KOGO KGB!

Unlike you I have been to all SD transmitter sites within the last 10 years, and know exactly what is where, I also know model numbers and brands of transmitters! Especially the CC ones! If you want documentation call CC or the FCC, both have the paper work.

Right. Thanks for the memory jog. I knew that but those particular brain cells have gone on vacation.

... probably to Mexico where they are not as severely regulated.

The FCC database shows no data to support an aux site for KGB. the "hardware" may exist, but no license. As for KIOZ,
a 2006 application for the Soledad backup is current. KUSS will apparently tie in with KHTS aux antenna.

You know opposed to popular belief Clear Channel actually goes over and above with the FCC and to make sure that they are legal. Because of people like you Big121 that are just waiting for them to make a mistake so that they can get fines or loose their licenses. When it comes to legalities CC ARE the ones to be like, when it comes to employment practices thats a little different.

Other companies have aux sites licensed to other stations. Univision has an aux on Miguel, but they use it often for 106.5 when it gets shut off at Emerald Hills, but the aux license is ONLY for 102.9. Oh wait according to Gleason that is ok because they are a spanish broadcaster LOL.

KLNV has an auxiliary license... from the FCC.
Licensee: UNIVISION RADIO LICENSE CORPORATION
Service Designation: FS Auxiliary station (backup for the main station)

Channel/Class: 293B Frequency: 106.5 MHz Licensed
File No.: BLH-19910612KA Facility ID number: 51515
CDBS Application ID No.: 162218

32° 43' 18.00" N Latitude Site in Mexican Border Zone
117° 04' 12.00" W Longitude (NAD 27) Distance to Border: 20.0 km

"Spanish Broadcasters" are in Spain, or, in the case of Televisa Radio in Mexico, owned by Spaniards.

I don't believe it has ever been discussed that Spanish language broadcasters on the US mainland might be held to or operate under different standards. It's long been considered that Puerto Rico has been regulated with a bit of benign neglect outside of the technical area, but that is something that originated on M Street, not at the station level.

Gleason I meant it as a joke. I know of your fondness for hispanic broadcasting.

As for Big121....Humm dont know why I am able to find it but obviously you cant so here is the license number for KGB-FM at Emerald Hills (KOGO)at 40kw ERP BXLH-20020621AAS and is located on the NE Tower.

I dont like the way Clear Channel does their programming, but when it comes to legalities NO ONE is more diligent. They know that ex-employees angry at them are waiting for their mistakes to help them get a fine, but they go to great lengths just to deflate you Big121!!!
