KUTP My45 is becoming Fox 10 Xtra

Finally, a reason to watch Channel 45 again. Since they lost the Suns years ago, they could have gone off the air completely, for all I cared. They were probably the most irrelevant station in Phoenix.

Sounds similar that what FOX did in the Bay Area. They took KICU 36 in San Jose and re-branded it as KTVU Xtra. A side note, KTVU is one of the few Fox O&O stations not to adopt a FOX {channel#} moniker.

You mean KTVU Plus. And yes they do... "KTVU FOX 2."

The ONE thing we don't need in Phoenix at the moment is more "news and weather".

Actually, we have nothing between 7pm and 9pm on a broadcast channel. I generally arrive home just before 7pm and no longer have the Arizona News Channel to catch up on the news. I guess I will have to login and watch Fox 10 News NOW or something.

It might be too early to be critical but I have sampled this new "news" service and have found it lacking. This morning for instance I saw two segments - both opinion pieces. The host was "interviewing" Troy Hayden (the usual morning show anchor) about the Samantha Deal death sentence. Troy rehashed a bit about the background but then proceeded to give his opinion about the death penalty in general and whether it had been properly applied in several Arizona cases. IMHO this is not news.

NO! That does not sound like news. I'm frankly growing very tired of opinion masquerading as news. I liked the old Headline News format back when they had local inserts each 30 minutes.

Well, fear not my friends because it doesn't look like News Now lasted but a couple of days. Intermittent checks the past two days reveal that MY45 is back to its usual estrogen-fueled programming.

It was on right before noon today, but airing the State Department press conference, likely from Fox News Channel, but with their branding covered up.

They get viewers for mundane things, for Trump, and for police chases from LA. That drives a lot of their coverage strategy.

I can't watch Fox News Now for anything, especially car chases from anywhere. The ones I've suffered through had the local person providing commentary. The person providing commentary knew nothing of what was going on and couldn't do a decent job of providing information. The service is a joke (a bad one). If I want to see a car chase I'll log into an L.A. TV station website. Fortunately, I have several Twitter feeds that tell of TV coverage.

Speaking of bad jokes, Phoenix TV news is a big, bad joke. :(
