KUWL 103.9 Fairbanks dumps oldies

Fairbanks, Alaska's KUWL 103.9 becomes KTDZ "Ted" to follow a trend of many stations. It had been oldies for several years, its part of the New Northwest Broadcasting chain (with 4 local stations and 4 in Anchorage, including KBBO "Bob" 92.1).

The "Ted" in Fairbanks is named after the state's senior US Senator, Ted Stevens- seriously. Ted is the most senior , long standing US Senator in the USA, and means "everything" to Alaska (so they say).

So why doesn't Boston have a station named after Massachusetts' senior, longstanding Senator "Ted"? Instead, it's got a "Mike" ... named after Dukakis?!?!
