KVCE SHENNIGANS. WAS DAN PATRICK'S ELECTION TO THE STATE LEGISLATURE FIXED?

It appears Dan's opponent in the election was ALSO INVESTING in Mr, Patrick's radio stations! Was there a deal made who will do what if one of them got elected?
Read here http://jayhargett.com/

To quote the corporal on the old series "Laugh In" Verrry interesting"

BTW Dan Patrick has plans underway to run for Governor of Texas in 2010.

Patrick's senate district is solidly Republican. Once he won the primary, there was no doubt of his winning the general election. Yet another "token opposition" election, which is the result of gerrymandered districts (the Democrats have theirs, too.)

And in politics, many play both sides of the fence. Look at the number of corporations that donate to both parties.

BUT HAS AN OPPONENT INVESTED IN THE OTHER GUY'S RADIO STATION,then sign a waiver declining equal time? It's More than just politics as usual.

Dan's success: He was one of the country's first radio stations to sign Rush Limbaugh in 1989 or 90. He built his large core Houston audience out of that and when he sold out to KPRC (Cheap Channel) he stayed on for a while. When he was able to get back on the air at KSEV in Houston through a lease arrangement with Liberman, his loyal audience immediately found him. Dan knew there had to be an equally passionate audience constituancy in DFW if there was one in Houston. He's been making good $$$'s in Houston for years and with a similar audience in DFW, there was no reason to doubt his ability to generate $$$'s there. Dan is a lightning rod of talk-show host the likes of Rush, Hannity, Savage, Levin, etc... And remember there's no better play-by-play hosts to this country's (and state's) political debacles and social double standards than a passionate conservative talk-show host. They believe very strongly in what they say, unlike the liberal hosts. The liberal hosts don't really seem to believe what they spew most of the time. That's probably why Air America went into the gravestone laden 6-foot hole. And as was posted on the Houston thread, Patrick never hid his relationship with Kubosh. If there was something fishy going on, don't you think the Harris County Democratic Party would have cried foul long before the General Election? Bottomline, they never cried foul at all, before, during or after the election. I also agree with the assessment that Dan could probably never be elected Governor. He's way to right wing for the average Republican or Conservative for that matter, but I hope his passion gets things done in Austin. From oppressive property taxes to an upside down education system and back asswards immigration enforcement policy Patrick's voice is loud and will be heard. So Dan Patrick haters....chill out and smell the coffee and you never know, you might find yourself paying lower property taxes one day. I'll bet you don't bitch about that!

Ad guy,it sounds like you worked or were associated with his campaign. The Harris county Democratic party is not as active as the Dallas county one. As far as "Passion" goes in reference to topic."liberals"I am sure are just about as passionate as conservatives. Rush is an actor, plain and simple.Talks shows as a whole, reek. It appears though JonWells is anew breed of host and I hope it takes hold elsewhere. BTW Patricks bills have all been shot down so far as being looney.

First KPLEX, I have never worked on a political campaign nor ever donated money to one. Personally, I believe donating money to a politician is like giving drugs to a parollee. Second, Dan Patrick is a friend and I know personally about his passion toward ISSUES, not politics. Third, Rush is much more than a conservative talk show host. Granted, he has developed an air of appearance over the years, but he is a real voice of conservative politicians and conservative believers and he does passionately believe in what he says. I met him in 1991 when he was still relatively unknown and that's when you get to know a person's true self. When I was referring to Liberals not believing what they say, they come off bitter toward their opposition and will say anything (fact or fiction) just to take the opposite side. That's why you always hear that libs never have original ideas like the conservatives. They are too busy refuting what any conservative says. Most conservative talk show hosts I listen to keep coming up with ideas. Sometimes Hannity gets too hung up on bashing Hilary that he may lose some credibility, but overall most of these hosts have fresh ideas and topics and that's what keeps their audiences high and consistent. Libs, for the most part are not original, therefore not interesting enough to hold any kind of an audience over time. Barrack Obama is the perfect example: Style over Substance. That's why Air America failed and why the conservative talkers have thrived for nearly 20 years in the wake of the fairness doctrine's demise. As for your rant on Patrick's bills being sluffed off as crazy nonsence, you are serioulsly misinformed and you should think before you rant. PLEX, for the most part I respect your postings and thinking, but on this one you have had a serious brain fart. Patrick, like most state senators, have introduced nearly a thousand bills each this far into the legislative session. Many of Patrick's bills are being considered in both houses. Many are hum-drum everyday stuff, but some do deal with property tax and immigration reform. You are only referring to the handful that were shunned and made public by the media. Hey, you have every right to disagree with everything Patrick stands for, but before you rant, get your facts straight. Oh, before you reply to this I don't have the time to go and research each of the hudreds of bills Dan has introduced to prove my point. You can go to the Texas legislature website to get that info yourself. It should all be there.

adguy, speaking of Tainted,You know Dan Patrick. You probably knew he had that "Mexican Flag" hoisted on his tower for an attention getter over the immigration issue(BTW those at KVCE have said it was..no argument). His Bills are being "considered" BUT so are many other legislators. He just happens to land in the top 3 that his bills don't make it out of committee . As far as Ideas, Conservative -Liberal There have been ideas from BOTH sides and BOTH have been reacted to by either side. That is why you read, listen and watch "the news," NOT FOX to find out. You have overlooked the fact that his campaign opponent was an investor in his station, raising questions on an ethics level about the election. A waiver signed not to ask fro equal time on Dan's station comes to mind among others. Dan is a hack, and an attention getter. He succeeded in that ,but the attention he seeks will come back to slap him on the rear. Very few take him seriously, and those that do may like "brown shirts."being a large part of their wardrobe.

Well, PLEX, I guess I'm one of the first Jews ever to be called a brown shirt. Look, you are free to be a Patrick hater like I said in my previous post. There are more of you than me, but like I said, I don't base my opinion on just what he preaches on the radio. I know the man personally and he's a good person, deeply religious and overly passionate about his ideas. The beauty of this country is your right and mine to hate as we please with no repurcussions. I don't believe anything will EVER come out of this radio station ownership and campaign issue because it is nothing that the Dems didn't already know.

I don't outright hate the guy. Just his dealings, and what he stands for; crap. Which is another man's fertilizer,If you overlook his underhandedness.

Now that we're through calling each other names ;D, perhaps we could wait another 30 days or so and see what parts of Dan Patrick's legislative program actually becomes law, and how much he was able to help his district due to his being in Austin. That will probably tell us more about him than anything else.
