Denver KVCU STA extension

1190 KVCU Boulder, currently running on a 1 kw backup transmitter after its main transmitter caught on fire and was destroyed, has filed to extend its STA to September 27. The filing indicates that a new transmitter is on order and is expected to arrive in June. An interesting tidbit in the very extensive filing: KVCU plans to start HD operation when the new transmitter is up and running. That would make the fifth sixth station in the Denver-Boulder market with HD broadcasts on AM. KVCU runs an eclectic alternative format programmed by University of Colorado students, and normally would operate with 6,800 watts.

Edit: correcting number of HD AM stations in the Denver-Boulder market (currently five).
