KVET Morning Show

I see they've already pulled BENDER from the website. Is he out?
My guess would be relocating within the day or even within the cluster.

I think this has the potential to be a really good show.

Since I like both of them separately I'll give them a listen, hope it's more than just another generic morning show and I hope management doesn't screw up Roadhouse, it's the only original programming on the station.

I did think it was kind of interesting that the Statesman's article referred to a generic release by the station and no statement from a PD or OM or any human, but hey it's CC, not too many humans left.

Anne and Chris are good, good people, and I'm happy to see that both of them have managed to survive all the changes in an industry where down-sizing is a way of life. Questions yet to be answered include: Will there be any chemistry between the two? And, will the show have any "local slant"? If there's no chemistry or local focus, then, CC would be better off slotting in a syndicated show. I hope for Anne and Chris, it works. Time will tell.

I can tell you this: Having been involved with several team shows (either doing one or forming one) down through the years, chemistry can take a long time to develop. Sometimes it never happens, and the team members wind up hating each other.

Are they going to actually let them talk? or just a few minuets and then the same music and commercials?

I gave up on KVET all together, I do some tune into the road house.

Will this really bring back listeners? I thought as what someone posted the morning show was doing better now than it ever has? Now they change it up again? I doubt it will be like it was a few years ago. Wonder if they will take any calls? Will be interesting come monday. They really should work on the daily playlist as well.

Tuned in this morning out of curiousity and got to hear Whiskey River by Cross Canadian Ragweed back to back with The Race is On by Sawyer Brown. Are they going out of their way to avoid playing the originals?

I pretty sure it wasn't "doing better than it ever has". The old Sam and Bob morning show was number one several times. After Sammy was "let go" the show began to slide and the Bucky and Bob experiment didn't help things. Not really either of their faults, it was just a chemistry thing as was noted earlier. I'm pretty sure that switching to a music format brought in some listeners who are music show people but it lost a bunch of listeners who were used to the iconic KVET Morning Show that was part of the fabric of Austin for many years.

I hope that the PD gives Chris and Anne some leeway to create a show that works for them. Anne has a great personality and is one of my favorite people...on a personal level. Hopefully that will come out on the air. Chris has never been much of talk format guy, but he's smart and a good interviewer and if he has a major hand in picking the music, I think they will do well. With both of their ties to the Texas Country Scene, you know that will have to be a big part of the show (Kevin Fowler will apparantly play a big part during the first week). I predict frequent live perfomances and lots of musician guests. I would not predict a lot of political talk, though I know Chris can hold his own at that, nor would I envision the police chief calling in to talk about the latest police story.

I'm actually quite interested to see what will happen....

They did seem to talk a little more I listened for a few minuets. I got more into listening to the Bobby Bones show now to even care what KVET does any more.

Playing way to many Garth Brooks songs. ::)

I knew there was something I was supposed to do this morning when I was driving around....rats, I can't believe I missed it, ??? but if it's the same programming staff that was there before I can probably pick it up tomorrow and hear the same thing.... ;)

Well, I gave them a shot this morning....and was witness to a truly, epic, fail.

Coming into work about 7:20 or so, they had a quick bit about Wikipedia being blacked out today due to the "internet legislation" in Congress.

They then asked callers to ring in if they had any opinions on it.

Not a single solitary word on the fact that Lamar Smith, who represents Austin, is the chief sponsor in the House.

Yes folks, welcome to Anywhere, USA. This thing might as well be prerecorded six months in advance.

Well based on the cozy relationship between CC Corporate in SA and Rep Lamar 'I never met a national ID program I didn't like' Smith (heck the Joe Pags show often sounds like an infomercial for Smith) and that CC (from what I've heard, I have no absolute proof) is one of those clamoring for this type of legislation, I'm surprised they mentioned anything about it at all.

CC must want KVET to fail. Maybe they have plans on changing the whole format.

??? ??? ???
