Indeed, and for anyone wondering the first song played on the new KVI: My Girl by the Temptations
I've been listening online for over a half hour now (during the 10:00 hour EST) and while there have yet to be any major surprises (with the possible exception of "She's a Bad Mamma Jamma" by Carl Carlton), they seem to be covering the era from the '60s to the early '80s.

I would say to the mid 80's actually; I did hear Take Me Home Tonight, and Heart of Rock and Roll, it seems to me that it's the same type of playlist as KMCQ, or not.

regarding post #86: where the tv, or radio guru, states AM radio is dead, and offers up a link from last year, where clear channel radio donates four stations to prove his point: www.rwonline.com/article/84226

"minority media and telecommunications council, which will use the stations for training, and to incubate new minority, and women owners".

not sure what the latest is there, but most of those four stations were small market, low power, and dark, and basically worthless tax write offs(thats right). that's what proves your point that AM is dead, huh? kinda like saying NASCAR is dead cause carl long, and morgan shepherd didnt make the nationwide series field on saturday, in texas.

perhaps, clear channel might want to offer up one of their outlets in the puget sound, and donate it to a minority as well? who might that be? scott! he's a white, country, conservative heterosexual male, which is an extreme minority in the seattle area. he'd be willing to take over 850 AM KHHO, under a donation to this minority program. besides, four sports channels in the puget sound region, is several to many!

perhaps, guru could instigate this process with the clear channel people, since he's got corporate "board of director" white collar cred, and yours truly's only blue collar talent is to avoid hitting the idiots on the road, and shifting without a clutch.

laugh it up boys!

OK the puzzling question is why the hell would KVI go Oldies when KMCQ is still around? Unless KMCQ is backing out of the format, they'll eat KVI's lunch!

Guess you've been living under a rock for the last few years.

KMCQ is for sale. The "oldies format" is a placeholder. They're not encoding for PPM therefore they don't show up in the ratings, so there's no lunch for them to eat.

Do you know what the expense to potential revenue of an AM station in a major market is? What about a small market? No, instead you romanticize based on your past dealings with listening to AM as a youth having no idea of what it costs to operate an AM station which, next to TV, is the most expensive in cost per watt to run.

There you go again, Guru - letting the facts destroy a perfectly good fantasy. How dare you? ::)

Who needs imagination and vision for AM radio when you can have curmudgeonry and treachery? ;D

You can make all the snide remarks you want to. Judging by past posts, those people you quoted seem to have a firmer grasp of the environment of today's radio that you seem to have.

And do I even care? Does ANYTHING make me FEEL? ANYTHING? AT ALL?

Please.....

Actually, I don't live in the area so I don't know the total scene! But thanks for the heads-up!

KMCQ is like the guest that already ate before they showed up, but looks at the buffet table with envy.....

You replied to my post. The answer must be 'yes.'
