I'm sitting here listening and trying to understand what exactly this is.
Is this supposed to be funny?
Is this supposed to be some sort of a stunt?
With due respect to my friends on the airstaff, I can't imagine either.
On occasion, someone has played "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" on a random 100+ degree summer afternoon - and that IS funny, one song, one bit, one time. Non-stop Christmas music on 4th of July weekend??...what's funny about that???
What is the point, the purpose, the reason? Baffling, really!
So this is a stunt? Just to get people talking about this crazy KVIL playing Christmas music in July?? Okay, maybe they'll tune in, hear that inded they are playing Christmas music,... and go away. Seriously, maybe five or ten minutes listening at the most.

OK, I looked at the site. They gave away a thousand dollars. That's nice, but so what? A thousand dollar prize isn't exactly earth-shattering any more now is it?
The site says "We hope 103.7 KVIL's Christmas in July celebration is providing you a little mid-summer relief!"

It's been said many times before, but in the words of their own former jingle...
"It's A Shame What's Happened To KVIL."
VIL used to stand for "Very Important Listeners". It now stands for "Very Ignorant Leadership."
I'll give them credit for trying to create a spark, but this is not the answer.
When I was in Dallas last weekend, I could barely tell the difference between them and "Mix 102.9".
It is just so frustrating to see how far they've sunk.

They could at least link these $1,000 giveaways in some way to independence. You know, since it's the 4th of July, not Christmas.

Anything but this!

Dumb yes....BUT they got you talking about it and nonbroadcasters are talking about it as well. Will it work? Doubtful considering a good portion of their targeted listeners are either on vacastion or took the day off to extend their holiday weekend.Dumb Timing there. So it will most likely fail, BUT Don't be surprised if it got peoiple talking how stupid it is while at the same time they tune in to win the money.
I remember them playing White Christmas the first day it reached a 100 degrees. That was when I worked at Six Flags and those three digit days were murder on us. I can't imagine them playing Christmas music in July? Does that mean the Carpenters will once again be played on KVIL?
