KVIL/Dallas Founder John J. Coyle Dies

Condolences to family and friends of DALLAS business and civic leader JOHN J. COYLE, who died TUESDAY in DALLAS at 80. COYLE was President of the investment group, UNIVERSITY ADVERTISING CORP., that put KVIL-A/DALLAS on the air in 1960 and KVIL-F on in 1962, selling the pair in 1965. He also served on the NAB board in 1963.

Indeed, with all due respect and condolences to his family and friends...how ironic is it that both the founder of the station, and the station ITSELF pass away the exact same week. R-I-P...

Likewise, with all repect to Mr. Coyle's passing...have the
original towers for KVIL/1150 (on Luna Road) been taken down?

Foreshadowing comes in many forms.Remember when Charles Schultz passed away the same day of the last new "Peanuts" strip? Things like that happen for a reason.

I do believe that the towers are still on hole number 10 on LB Houston Golf Course. and they are still out of bounds if you hit it to the left-- but then again if you are hitting that far to the left where the hole is-- then you need to be talking to Tom Hicks for a pull hitter's position with the Texas Rangers.. thats a might hard PULL!

Just a thought!

Mr. Coyle passed away on Tuesday, November 29th. He was a giant, but you never would have heard him use that word about himself.
