KVJ Out at WFLC?

There is a threat on the "other board" reporting that KVJ are already out at Hits. There is some speculation that they could come back to West Palm Beach, but I don't see any openings for them. Anyone have any info on this?

They are out at Hits 97.3. First they neutered them to only playing music then about a week later (if that) I think it was actually a few days they were told to no longer show up for work. Speculation is that they will be coming back to West Palm. According to Gossip Extra they can start looking for a job tomorrow and on their facebook and twitter pages they are talking a lot like something is already done. If I was betting on it, I would say they are going to go to Real Radio 94.3 and Paul and Young Ron will move to 98.7 the gater. That way they can keep Elvis Duran, get back the cash cow of KVJ and their fans do not have to worry about them playing music. Just my two pennies.

I very much want KVJ back in West Palm Beach. I just don't see how it will be on a Clear Channel station. Real Radio 94.3 skews male. KVJ primarily appeals to a female audience - much the same audience that Elvis Duran reaches. Moreover, KVJ is ready-made for CHR, not Hot Talk. Finally, even if KVJ was profitable, do you really think CC will shell out any kind of money for them?

I don't see KVJ on any other station as the market currently sits. However, should X102.3 change formats, perhaps that is a possibility. Can anyone think of another station where they would fit?

If memory serves, KVJ started on WFLC in mid-August of last year. That wasn't much of a trial period. They really got a raw deal.

Scott,
You seem to know a lot about KVJ, so I'll ask you. Do you think they would fit on WRMF or Sunny? (I'm guessing Sunny is a little too older for them....plus I'm sure they would want a more music-based morning show.) Would they fit on WRMF? Does WRMF's current morning show have that much of a stronghold? I don't listen, so I really don't know. I just know that while KVJ was on here in Miami on Coast, I tried to listen, but was not impressed. I'm sure those who were fans on WILD got to love them over time.

I have been a fan of KVJ since they started on Wild back in 2000. They have a very loyal fan base, and the majority of those fans are female. Given WRMF's morph into one of those "90s to Now"-type stations that skews female, I think KVJ would be a good fit there. But there are two issues that stand in the way:
1. WRMF has long been committed to a music-intensive, PPM-friendly format - even in the morning. That doesn't mesh with KVJ's style.
2. The WRMF Morning Show has a Heritage voice in the market - Jennifer Ross. She has a very loyal following. I don't see WRMF canning her, even if the hiring of KVJ would help WRMF skew younger.

I would love to see KVJ back at Wild, but has anyone ever seen Clear Channel dump Elvis Duran for a local show?

Word now is the KVJ has already landed at a new radio station. I am not sure if it is in Miami or West Palm Beach - or elsewhere.

I'm counting the Days, Mins and Hours before I hear these words.......

"It's back, Smokin' South Florida it's a Totally 80s weekend and I'm Gnarly Charlie back in charge kicking it all off again where we first started with Miami's Own Will to Power on 97.3 The Coast"

Just sayin'

John, I'd like to see that happen too. But Cox is not giving up on CHR anytime soon.

It is amazing how Cox is following the same path here that they used in Tampa. We now have two stations that mirror Tampa stations: WFLC and Tampa's Hot 101.5, and Easy and Tampa's "The Dove."

That's what Gnarly told me the "young kids" who took over in corporate wanted to do, and they sure as heck did it
