.......just returned from this area after couple of days on business.......whenever tuning to this channel at various intervals, noticed that they were "stunting" away from their longtime urban formats......at times silence was noticed, followed by stretches of other musical genres previously unheard there (not even on the Dave Coz show!).......then noticed several hours ago that they became "La Preciosa 103.1" Spanish AC format.......this area already has a "Radio Alegria" on KTAM........stand a chance on being corrected......anyone else in B/CS or anywhere wish to impart additional knowledge?

It's sad to see the only urban station in town go. Mabe the Mexican music is just a test and they are going to change it back to urban with an upgraded format.

No. They issued a press relaease promoting the change to La Preciosa, and they seem to be building out a big chain of these stations in smaller markets.

So what are people that enjoy urban music in Bryan-CS supposed to do?Do you think we will ever get a new urban station?I think KNDE Candy 95 should change to just urban music as Hot 95.1. That would be a really great station!

........another thought for fdcham and David Eduardo.........is there a possibility that possibly another station such as KZTR 101.9 or maybe even KTAM 1240 trying on urban with their stronger signals in this area?........don't really know how well these operations do with ratings/revenues, etc., etc.,........though these stations as they are now are enjoyable in their own ways, even if they really were bottom feeders in that food chain...........urban comtemporary there lasted 20 years or better, first with KHRN 94.3, later "upgraded" to KVJM 103.1 with some improvements to qsl.............

Officials with both companies declined to give the purchase price.La Preciosa joins three other Clear Channel-operated stations in the Bryan-College Station market, KAGG Aggie 96 FM, KNIX Fox 99.5 FM and KKYS The Mix 104.7 FM. The communications giant owns more than 1,200 radio stations in the United States.KVJM radio, formerly known as V 103 Jamz, started locally in 1999 and played hip hop and rap music.La Preciosa will broadcast Spanish-language hits from the '70s, '80s and '90s with music by artists such as Los Bukis, Vicente Ferdandez, Los Freddy's and Juan Gabriel.
Gee, I don't know which format would be worse...

Was'nt there a Spanish station that was on at 99.5 FM in B-CS? Before it went Classic/Alternative Rock which is now known as FOX 99.5?

...........if memory serves right, 99.5 started out as KBMA "La Fabulosa" Spanish Programming, until CC purchased it & made it KNFX "99.5 The Fox, the classic rock station". KTAM 1240 still had the old satellite delivered MOR programming then, only to flip to locally produced Spanish Programming shortly thereafter.....

99.5 did begin life as KBMA. When I lived there, I hated when it came on the air since you could pick up KISS-FM 99.5 San Antonio in the evenings fairly often. Ditto with KAGG -- took out KSAQ 96.1 San Antonio --- and KTTX's 106.1 upgrade -- taking out KIOC 106.1 Orange. Recall also that KVJM 103.1 was previously KHRN 94.3 "K94." Before it went full-time R&B, KHRN was Spanish-language in the mornings and R&B the rest of the day. I don't remember when it went full-time R&B, but it was Spanish-language mornings at least until the late-80s.Chiphttp://users4.ev1.net/~chipk/ac/airchecks.html
