KVJM got kissed

Tuned in today to check them out, it's now 103.1 KISS-FM, when did it flip?

Don't know, but Clear Channel never really gave KVJM a chance to succeed. They went straight to "La Preciosa" network which was a failure everywhere else, and followed it with "Mia". If you ask me, I would have either gone head to head with market leader KTAM as a regional mexican or tried Tejano. Bryan houses a lot of 2nd and 3rd generation hispanics that would have probably supported a Tejano format.

Oh well, I guess Radio Alegria is once again the lone spanish language station in Aggieland. On the bright side, Candy finally has some competition.

If you call that non-local, premium choice crap competition....

To save other outsiders the trouble of looking it up:
KVJM is a class A FM licensed to Hearne in the Bryan-College Station market.

Wonder if CC will move the KKYS calls over to 103.1 at some point since, of course, 104.7 got those calls back in the 1980s (when they were still on 104.9) when they launched as CHR "Kiss 105"

Call letters don't matter anymore.
In Austin, Kiss is KHFI and The Beat is KPEZ.
The calls are usually just whispered or mumbled once an hour anyway.

Even though KVJM is a class A station, it is probably the best rimshot that Bryan/College Station has. It used to be one of the worst, but after getting rid of their directional pattern, they have been able to put a good signal into the area.

I wonder if this in any way affects what will happen over at KKLB 107.3 whenever they decide to fire the station up.
