Is now part of the Noalmark empire.... I'm sure we will see something soon on the internet if it hasn't hit already.

Ken Sibley will continue in the general manager capacity for Noalmark/Magnolia. The stations will continue to operate in the same way that they have been. I guess that gives them eight stations to operate in South Arkansas' "golden triangle"...

>Well, if motis-aperandie for Noalmark-El Dorado holds true in this case, here's how I figure it will come down:

1. Buy the station.
2. Run off all the local people (i.e. Dan Gregory and Ken)who have been there for years, upsetting the locals. (remember Bud Cross and J.B.?)
3. Sales go down the toilet.
4. See steps 1 thru 3. A one-way road to ruin with Sandy Sanford at the wheel. The pillsbury dough boy rises again!!!!

Hahahahaha....

You're the kind of person I love on these boards. You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about, and yet, you refuse to let facts get in the way of your personal vengence crusade.

Let's start off with the basics of where you are wrong...

1) Name an employee of Noalmark - El Dorado that was fired. Just one. One single employee. Please. (Here's a hint -- You can't. Everyone who left during Sandy Sanford's time as GM has left of their own free will -- not under threat of being fired, disciplined or anything else... In almost every case, including the names you did mention, it comes down to ego and personalities who think that they are the only thing in radio and it will crumble without them.)

2) If the locals are upset, please explain last year's Arbitron numbers. (Here's another hint -- trends actually show MORE listeners than in previous years, and Noalmark absolutely dominated the list. If the locals were pissed, why would they not turn to a different set of stations?)

3) Since you have interjected that sales "go down the toilet" with Sandy Sanford in charge, you certainly won't mind posting yearly totals for, say, the past 5 years for Noalmark - El Dorado, right? Obviously, since you know how the sales are doing you must have some numbers to back up your statements, yes? Please provide evidence to support this claim (Here's hint number 3 -- Once again, you can't. Noalmark - El Dorado actually had it's 2nd best year ever last year for both sales and collections.)

As a former and current employee of Sandy Sanford, I have to say that you guys never fail to amuse me. I'm curious... If Sandy is such a horrible, incompetent manager as you obvously think he is, why are both ratings and sales for Noalmark at one of the highest levels South Arkansas has ever seen (both proportionally and in actuality)? If Sandy is the death knell of the Noalmark bell, wouldn't the company be cutting back as opposed to expanding?

Ya know, honestly, I think this kind of stuff is hilarious. I've known and worked with Sandy for about the past 10 years or so and we've listened to crap like that come and go. Sandy's busted his ass at stations where the building leaked when it rained and taken them to the top of their market. People love to take pot shots at people who are successful. The only time I've ever seen Sandy be "hard" on anyone or be somewhat of an ass is when they back him into a corner, and I have no problem with someone who is willing to fight, in a manner of speaking, when their back in against the wall.

Is Sandy willing to let an employee sit around and play on the internet, reading Johnny Cash websites, watch television, and read the newspaper while others have to cover that person's work load? No. Is he a fair manager? Yes, and he fights for his employees.

As far as your comment about the "doughboy" goes, have you seen Sandy lately? He's lost 70 pounds over the past year and a half or so. I wouldn't exactly say he's a doughboy nowdays.

So, here's my question: If Sandy Sanford is the ultimate ruiner of stations he manages and gets rid of the only people worthy of opening a microphone, why is he still here and managing more stations than he started out managing while almost none of those who have left are even in radio anymore? If they were so great, why did someone not snatch them up?

I eagerly await your response, arklaamfm, and please feel free to bring some supporting facts with you to accompany your clever, original, and well-thought-out brand of vitrolic humor.

PS - It's modus operandi, Latin for "mode of operation". Great job on missing both words.

I could really shake it up by saying...
Who is Sandy Sanford?

I guess I haven't met him.

Sandy Sanford is the general manager of the Noalmark Broadcast chain who according to Union County folklore sacrifices goats and sells small children from Junction City into slavery at the beginning of each sales meeting. On a side note he is also the voice of the El Dorado Wildcats on KMRX 96.1 FM.

He's a good guy from everything I can tell....

As a former employee of Noalmark...I have to say something. The management team in El Dorado is top notch and I've never heard a bad word about Sandy. I thought it was childish and immature to take a pot shot about his body. Heck, I know very few veterans in radio that have a perfect body. :)

Sandy is a true veteran...one of those people who LOVE radio. They don't work for their own ego they work for the station. It's sad to say that these days most people are after something for themselves and not to improve the product they are marketing to clients and the audience. They could care less about either. Gone are the days where we actually served our clients and audience members. And, I for one, miss those days.

I for one applaud the incredible turn around that Sandy has made in El Dorado. Not only does he have faith in his employees...they have faith in him.

Sandy, you've only met me once, but I'm a bit of a tom boy...lemme know if you want me to take this fellow out back and open a can of whoop a** on him. :)

One of the few people on this board willing to post using their real names...I thought that said a lot about him from the beginning. He's the General Manager for Noalmark in El Dorado.

I for one think we could use fewer goats in this world and I've got a 9 year old boy who just got out on summer vacation...Sandy, what could do you think get for him? kidding...I think!

Hey Mediamogul?

It's also my understanding that he sleeps in a coffin and his SUV is powered by the souls of unborn innocents which he acquires through small print on "dollar a holler" contracts.

Wow. Where to begin. I used to like programming in negative logic, so let's work bottom up. I suppose pillsbury dough boy rises again is a clever remark to someone's weight. I have found that if the worst thing you can say about me is that I am fat/ugly/hair is too short etc. that I must be doing something right in my career. Weight can be lost, plastic surgery performed, but being a tardy is damn near irreparable. Even some jackasses are curable, but God-given stupidity is just a shame. I suppose it helped boost your self-esteem for the day to attack someone's physical appearance, though, so kudos to you.
I am going to step out on a limb here and say you are either very far removed from El Dorado or you are one of the local "competitors" that are gasping for air trying to keep up. The "old crew" that ruled the roost before Mr. Sanford came on quickly found out that work had to be done, done quickly, and done accurately. Those who could not suck it up nor bury their ego also found the unemployment line steadfastly on their own. I never knew how easy it was to lose employees until Mr. Sanford put them to work. Those who did find employment in the radio industry again are definitely lacking to say the least, but their company is also one that is gasping. If you ever wanted a look into the drama in the radio world, all you had to do was open the station's door and listen to the old crew backbite each other and trash their managers. Apparently not everyone was smart enough to swallow their pride to work hard enough against their management to get their way, thus they quickly disbanded one by one. Their ego was only surpassed by their laziness and lack of talent. I bet I could find a harder working and more talented brain dead monkey that smokes their "abilities". They were ruining those stations long before Mr. Sanford had to come in and do damage control.
Sales going down the toilet. That probably had NOTHING to do with the fact that a certain cigar smoking former President had to do with the economy. That takes a while to hit society, you know. Or at least you should since you seem to know it all. Check out the industries in Union County. Most of them suffered so badly from the economy they had to pull up stakes or cut back to half a skeleton crew. Don't pretend that this does not effect stations. It effects everything. From what I hear told it is getting harder by the second to buy new air time on their bigger stations. If you would like to buy an ad and whine about how horrible they are and how much you rule, I'm sure their Spanish station can translate it and charge you only pennies. Ah the Spanish station. You see, some people care about meeting the population's needs and Mr. Sanford found that the Hispanic population needed a station to call their own.
If the people at the newly acquired station are not willing to (insert huge gasp) work for their money and provide the best product they can produce, they should be worried. If they are hard working and talented, then blessings are probably on their way.
I used to be friends with plenty of the old crew in El Dorado, but they all seemed to change over the years. You ever see that happen? Someone become so sure and full of themselves only to fall flat? Perhaps you know first-hand? The locals might have been upset at first, but someone's apparently listening to the stations still. Sometimes those listeners buy into the facade of the personality and grow attached, but when those people are replaced by someone who truly loves their job and cares? Well, it's not so hard growing attached to the new kids on our local beloved stations.
I don't live by "if you don't have anything nice to say, then say nothing at all" but I do believe that you should have some idea/knowledge about what you choose to speak on before you open your mouth and spew forth ignorance. If Mr. Sanford's weight is the worst punch you can throw, then boy do I have a delightful dinner of truth for you about your old friends you miss so much from the stations (physical appearances aside).
