KVMK flipping today at 1 PM?

C'mon, you know the staff never knows until the PD/general manager or APD/sales manager comes in and inserts new programming. Then most of the staff is usually let go.

:D My bad... see what a three day weekend does to me. :D

Heck, it took me all morning to figure out that I had my watch on the time zone I spent the weekend in!

Good Afternoon,

We’re opening a new chapter in Dallas/Fort Worth radio history today as CBS Radio launches MEGA 107.5, a Spanish Language Hot AC targeting Adults 25-54. You’ll recognize cross over artists such as Shakira, Paulina Rubio, Ricky Martin and Enrique Iglisias. We believe this is a significant opportunity for our company and an extremely exciting new entertainment brand for our community!

It is also a difficult day with the departure of MOViN and many staff members. I cannot thank Nikki Nite, Eric Landrum and their staffs enough for the passion and terrific work in launching and executing the MOViN brand. We wish them all the very best. We hope to have some of our MOViN team members transfer into other responsibilities within the cluster.

The launch of Mega is a special one, in that we will air 10,000 songs in a row. It also gives us an opportunity to recruit and hire the best staff possible for Mega. The station will require a considerable amount of bilingual Spanish/English communication skills. Please let me know if you or someone you know who is bilingual and skilled in one of our disciplines would be a good candidate for Mega.

I’d like to thank a special few who were pulled into this project over the last couple of days and absolutely made MEGA happen regardless of the time or challenge presented. And a huge thanks to Kurt Johnson for his partnership throughout the entire process.

We are taking on two of the best Spanish language radio companies in America. Univision and Lieberman are two very good competitors who will not back away from our challenge.

I’m incredibly excited that with the help of our company, the new staff to be hired and you, we will deliver a superior product to the local Latin culture which will carve out a significant ratings position followed by strong revenue!

We live and work in a fantastic market… let’s take advantage of this HUGE opportunity beginning today!

Thanks bp

Congratulations! You have one the "Stereotype of the Week" award, and it's only Tuesday.

It isn't a stereotype...you obviously have never driven down Northwest Highway.;)

no, i'm actually asking for it. I frequent a couple and enjoy the "friendly service" after a long day. If CBS does their job right (which is asking A LOT), they'll hire promo girls who will put the ticketchicks to shame.

therefore, adding beer joint girls with promo girls = great success!

I wonder how many wrecks are caused by those drive thru beer store girls... :D

Hey, Broken and Noman....there's not enough space here to provide you a detailed treatise on the diversity of Hispanic culture, but the Spanish Pop audience is most definitely NOT the beer and F150 crowd that you seem to be envisioning. Think BMW 3 series, enjoying Mojitos on Lower Greenville. Perhaps Mr. Eduardo can elucidate.

Brian Purdy, Kurt Johnson, Mel Karmazan..the three stooges of broadcasting with nucklehead decisions.

Or Industrial!! oops I mean Riverfront! no wait Cesar Chavez!

I’m disappointed at the change from “Movin’” to “Mega” in Dallas. I used to listen online to this station. Dallas is losing a diverse station so that the brilliant folks (not) at CBS can put on another Spanish language station. (Don’t you guys already have enough of those?)

While I’m disappointed, I’m not surprised. Do any of you remember exactly a week ago when “Movin’” was stunting, saying that big change was coming? Many of you then said that they wouldn’t be changing format. Although I didn’t say anything on these boards, I had a feeling that the change talked about was more than just a cash give away. The “change” took a week longer than expected, that’s all.

Again: I will miss this station. From now on, when I want good Dallas radio, I guess I’ll just have to call “Jack.” Hopefully, if they’re smart, KZZA (106.7) will drop their Spanish language format, and get “Movin’.”

I doubt any of the folks you refer to will be listening to Mega... that's an upscale audience.
