KVMX Frequency Flip to 92.1

Gotta wonder what Lotus has up their sleeve...announcing they are moving Classic Hits KVMX to 92.1 from the much better signal of 96.5? Why after spending big bucks on billboards all over Bakersfield in May and June with the 96.5 logo? Are they just moving the Spanish Concierto over to 96.5 to give it a boost...or are they gonna go after another Clear Channel station...or KUZZ? Things that make you go Hmmmmm? A simple switch of the two doesn't make much sense to me.

I heard today going east on 190 to Porterville, that 96.5 is moving to 92.1. They didn't say when. But, I imagine it is soon. I think this is a big mistake! I cannot hear 92.1 from Porterville at all, signal too weak.

96.5 more than likely will go with "Concierto" , but on the other hand maybe 96.5 or 92.1 will be the South Valley's version of "The Blaze" or An Active Rock Format like LOTUS has in Las Vegas.

Concierto.............What a waste of 50k watt frequency!

I have suggested To Dan Thomas that it would be best for 'The Blaze' long term to copy there sister station KOMP to a tee.I would even pipe in there morning show as after a week in Vegas,I found the morning show to be very entertaining.

First of all Jenn Lipp rocks in The Mornings on 105.1 THE BLAZE,
Next, I was talking about max-fm and 92.1 in Bakersfield doing a "Blaze" format even simulcasting Jenn's show, and/or go for the KOMP format that would include Carlota.

@kenrayc.....Any radio station that emulates KOMP in Fresno and/or Bakersfield should over time, be a rating success.I don't know about Bakersfield but the radio brain trust (or lack of) here in Fresno absolutely has no creativity and doesn't know what outside the box is.KKBZ would be the station to do this.As for bringing Jen to Bakersfield,I doubt they like listening to nails screeching across a chalk board

I've noticed that KVMX is constantly talking about their move to 92.1...on their website, their facebook, on the air. However...no mentions at all on Concierto or on their pages. Million Dollar question...do they launch a Rocker to go after KRAB or country to go after KUZZ? Don't see them doing Hip Hop or AC...what else is left?

If I were to place a bet, they are waiting to end the broadcast calendar month (which ends on Sunday).

Can't wait to hear what they do on 96.5

Re: KVMX Frequency Flip to 92.1-Update

So at 7:20 this morning...KVMX flipped a switch to move to 92.1 from 96.5. (Dramatic music)...and...dead air. Granted for only a minute. Then their planned Journey promotion crashed and burned when their phones failed. You had a month to plan...and this is what you did? No fanfare, no imaging...no morphing of frequencies. And then you move a weak Spanish station onto the best signal in Bakersfield? Great job Lotus. You probably just cost Max a share.

KOMP is an active rock station due to the fact LV already has to Classic Rock stations. There is a reason KRZR is longer alive..because it was loosing money hand over fist. Why do you think no one has rushed in to fill the void? Becuase no one can afford to loose another dime in this economy. Bakersfield has KRAB and that market is not large enough to sustain two current based rock stations.

Fresno has trouble feeding just one. Blaze does what it does most likely because it is the safest bet in a very conservative and ailing economy
