KVMX goes CLASSIC HITS

KVMX (96.5 Max FM) launched as a Classic Hits station in August 2008. After trying for two years to dethrone Clear Channel's KDFO (98.5 The Fox)...Max is back with positioning as "Classic Hits..the New 96.5 Max FM" with punched up imaging, jingles and a playlist that includes Beach Boys, Bee Gees, Earth-Wind & Fire, Rod Stewart. Now it seems they're going after 97.7 (KSMJ) 101.5 (KGFM) and perhaps 99.3 (Groove).

Sounds like they are like their sister station in Fresno KHIT 107.1.

I think its a great idea for them. They failed miserably as a Classic Rock station playing album deep cuts. With the new jingles and playlist, Bakersfield now has a pretty decent oldies station. They should add more 60s into the mix and really go after it. I see where DeRoo and Anne Kelly have flipped shifts with Kelly doing middays now. Also heard what sounded like a syndicated show at night.

I think the day part flip with Anne and Doug was great since Doug is doing AM tv. The station sounds pretty good from my stand point. Variety of everything 50,60,70,80, and 90's.. The night show is cool. I dig it reminds me of the old request shows that no longer exist. I am at a BMX track 5-6 nights a week with the kids and they have MAX on all the time I feel it caters to everyone (excluding some of the kids who are too cool for the room). Then again the kids dont have any buying power anyway. So do they really count? I feel MAX will be around for a while as long as they keep doing what THEY do not do what ANYONE ELSE DOES. With Deroo in the building and his knowledge of the craft, market, and music how can they not win? I find myself listening to it more than any other station. Just my opinion. Keep up the good work. Yet think back to the time they first signed on people speculated I was going to program that station.. HA!
AG!
