KVNS 1700 new log from Central Mass

Probably not THAT big a deal but I finally snagged KVNS-Brownsville TX from Central Mass. Was in bed listening to the Bose, heard a song "a horse with no name by America-got my sorry butt up and checked it against the KVNS web site which indicated it was indeed the last song played. Not very strong but the radio isn't exactly hi tech.
Even a blind dog finds a bone....
 
Ive logged them once during the winter. I was only able to recognize the songs being played since the signal was so weak, but they matched the station's playlist. You can also check for WEUP from Alabama at 10kw day/1 kw night. I logged them with a decent enough signal to get a station ID.

I think it's always significant to get a station like KVNS, especially because of it's low nighttime power.

I'm 936 miles away from KVNS but we have an advantage here because there's nothing but Gulf between here and Brownsville and KVNS can often really boom in.

Here's typical reception of KVNS from Tampa where the signal starts out fairly good, becomes weak, and then becomes strong.

Just north east of you spunker, I've picked them up as well (and posted here when I bagged them), at least once. I must've gotten them before they switched to their night time power, which is listed in the WRTH as 0.88 kW. Even so, with a listed 8.8 kW day time rating, getting KVNS up here is a pretty good catch indeed!

Great catch!

KVNS is quite common in Western Washington, under XEPE some nights on 880w power. At least 2000 mi, it was 2021 from Bothell, probably 2010 or so from here in Bellevue.

KVNS is a regular in Central Mexico at night. It was booming into San Luis Potosi (capital city) about 3 hours before sunset last time I was down there.
 
In VA, I hear only WEUP from Huntsville, AL at night, but at about 1:30 AM EST recently I heard KVNS above it, with the Bee Gees's Night Fever song and the station faded away a few seconds later.

Wish I could hear KVNS in the Chicago area, but I usually only get the Des Moines, Ia station. I used to occasionally hear Miami years ago.

I bet if you are able to listen long enough, it would work it's way in eventually.

Reception conditions for the upper AM band seem to change more rapidly than they do for the lower band.
