KVNS-AM 1700 Brownsville

I caught a oldies format on 1700 last night. I couldn't get the calls because of KKLF (simulcasting KLIF) from Richardson.. Has KVNS 1700 flipped back to oldies? :-\

They flipped sometime back in November.

Brilliant move by Clear Channel. Program oldies in a market that has an available audience (translate that as small, but loyal) and do nothing to promote it, then when it fails try something else with zero promotion. So now they're back to oldies, but can anyone really expect them to do it right this time around?

Honestly I'm glad they flipped back to oldies, even pre-fab ABC oldies are better than another pre-fab sports/talk/ethnic blah format.

AM stations HAVE to promote to let people know they exist! Can't big corporate broadcasters figure that out?

And flip-flopping from one format to another to another with no warning just winds up pissing off listeners in the long run.

Well if they're going to play oldies wouldn't it be better for them to simulcast their sister station KQXX "Oldies 105.5" from Mission? 105.5's signal probably doesn't even make it to Brownsville.

They did that for a while, before flipping to that news-talk format that flopped. The 105.5 format gets good ratings for a station who's signal covers less than half the RGV, a simulcast would seem like a good idea.
