I don't understand why KVRK is doing this, I can't believe they survive being on the air this long.

Charles, what is kvak? I dont remember them, and I remember most of the stations in the market. (Now wonders why I've never heard of it).

Not KVAK, KVRK.

How have they lasted 10 years? This is an easy question to answer. They have a full-time staff of 5. There's no "sales" department. They get advertising, like billboards and their vehicle, donated to them. DFW is still the "buckle" of the Bible-Belt: Large Christian community. The word about it is still spreading. They play current songs with a relevant and positive message. And they just posted their best ratings book ever with Arbitron: 32nd overall, beating out the likes of WRR and KCBI. No one else has accomplished this with less than 20,000 watts.

It's Christian Rock. 89.7 Power FM
KVRK, in my opinion, is one of the best Christian stations I have ever heard. I have travelled to many markets and have yet to find a Christian station as unique as Power FM. Seems like all the other Christian stations out there are too afraid to play all the hard rock like Power FM. All I have where I live is Air 1 and K-Love. Power FM sounds ten times better than Air 1. I think even someone who isn't necessarily religious could take a listen to Power FM and enjoy some of the music.

And, you'd be surprised how many loyal listeners actually donate to KVRK. It's quite a few from what I've heard. This share-a-thon is probably more of a big deal than the previous ones because of the situation with sister station KVTT. I hope they can stay on air, because KVRK is one of the very few Christian stations I can respect. With all the loyal listenres they have, I think they can make it.

There used to be a station in Oklahoma City that played Christain Heavy Metal or at least a show dedicated to it.

Like KLTY 89.7 appeals to a large fan based and should have many years of success even if they don't always play the harder genres all the time some of us enjoy.
