KVTT off frequency?

I drove all the way through Richardson hearing them on 102.5 - totally jamming KMAD. What is up - did KVTT buy them? PIrate rebroadcasting KVTT on 102.5? I think the receiver is OK, but 102.5 happens to be close to 91.7 + 10.7 MHz, so perhaps somehow somebody's radio with a super powerful local oscillater was putting out a signal, but it wasn't fading until almost Spring Creek in Plano!

I have it on good word from a Chick I know that it is a translator for KVTT that is running WAYYYYY more than its licesnsed power of 99 watts. They do have a CP to move to 250 watts, but still I do not think it should get as far as you are hearing it. Here is a link to their 60db http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/FMTV-service-area?x=FX1227866.html

Why are they bothering with a translator inside the metroplex? They have one of the strongest signals in the area.

Is there anything we can do to fight this thing? I can hear it all over town. Certainly NOT the intention of translator of dubious necessity at best to try and cover the whole metroplex! Unless they intended to build it and then sell it to somebody else. KMAD is unreceivable in Plano and Allen now, probably parts of McKinney as well. It is a popular rim shot in all of those communities, I hear it played in a lot of stores, etc. Now all we get is a duplication of KVTT, and one person I talked to is mad as heck!

Oops, sorry I missed this post about 102.5 before I put something about it on the board!! ONly thing I can add is that 102.5 as KVTT was loud and clear in Garland and Mesquite Sunday, and across NW Dallas and Downtown all day today. Maybe the low clouds helped, but it was static free today. The only reason I was even looking for KMAD again was to reassign some presets AWAY from the relentless Christmas music on KEOM, Platinum and KVIL. ENOUGH ALREADY!!!

I thought 102.5 was a Waco rock station (102.5 The Bear) bleeding through..

Depending on where you live in the metroplex, it is (or was). When I go to Ft. Worth, the bear instead of KMAD is an equal substitute. Both deserve a place on my presets, but of course share one position. Or did. If KVTT gets away with this - it is all over for the bear and KMAD metroplex listeners. The thing that makes me mad is there is no need for a translator for 91.7. They have one of the most powerful signals in the area already. There can be only one reason for this: intentional jamming of formats like the bear and KMAD that they do not like because they aren't Christian stations. I am a Christian believer. But I think that Christianity can survive on its own in the world of ideas without intentionally jamming opposing formats - and I've never heard anything on KMAD that was overtly hostile to Christianity, the occasional song on their playlist with objectionable lyrics - that is what the pushbutton is for, when the song is over, I'll be back, I voted with my pocketbook because I may have missed a sponsor's commercial, etc. That doesn't mean the whole station is bad and deserves jamming - what is KVTT doing - acting like Castro and jamming things they don't like?

Using that model, KVTT will likely pick up 96.9 and 97.3 for the very same reason!

Hey - let's let them put HD on their new 96.9 and 97.3 translators!
