Anyone noticed the APP to move KWEY to Oklahoma City? What would replace it in Weatherford?

Proably it's sister station KWEY-FM would pick up the listeners it had. 1590's Not much of a powerhouse - 1K day - 32 watts nights. Is Tyler doing this move-in?

Actually, it's KWEY-FM that's trying to move into Oklahoma City. It would downgrade to a class A and change its COL to Blanchard. It's something they've floated around for awhile, actually. So, I'd guess 1590 would be the station that stays licensed to Weatherford. However, I'm not yet convinced this move will happen. They admit their proposal is short-spaced to KQOB 96.9.

Citadel will proably protest and prevent this move-in since its right between Bob and Wild. (Unless they are doing this, big win for them)

I hate to see another small town FM move into the big city, but it's happening everywhere. If it does happen, I hope this station will be doing something different than the norm.

You've also got KESC with an application to move just outside of Shawnee at 100,000 watts on 103.7.... There are several... I'm not real sure what the Weatherford locals would do with out "The Coyote 97-3"... That is their big station over there.

Simply put, the FCC ought to prohibit such stations from abandoning their communities.

No need for them exists. Oklahoma City has plenty of radio stations.

In addition, such small-town operators tend pay lower salaries than a medium market like OKC and can have a negative effect on salaries and benefits at the larger, more established OKC stations.
